Build it right, over engineer like I said in my Mail and you will not regret it.
You want to do track that motor can be a beast

I really like the SR, however this is the second one I've bought that came with bearing knock. If I rebuild it and 4 months from now it gets knock again I'm gonna kick myself! and the motor! and you!
2? and both with bearing knock?? damn...

This is all true, all the options are still being weighed, its a really tough decision!

In my experience, both previous owners being utter chops! Motor abuse, not changing oil regularly, not allowing decent warm ups and cooldowns, the usual, that was definately the case on the first one in my S14. Also heard a bigger sump is a must for drifting an SR!
However Charel from the drift club has been drifting for a year+ on a stock SR with a Stock sump and he has had no issues, proves that if you look after it, it will look after you.

R30k - R10k = R20k
Put R20k into your SR and you will be smiling.

Its not uncommon that batman's are unreliable cars, now you want that thing's lump in your S13? Eish...
No I've I touch a motor again, 1JZ/2JZ or RB25, RB26 is overpriced in my opinion...
Or buy a car with such motor in already.... ummm Toyota Soarer...

ok, first i dont understand your danville grammar??? but i get the jist of what you saying!!!!
but i disagree - a rotary is a very very reliable motor. the fact that it is often misunderstood is a reality.
anything less than 300kw's on a rotary is easy and cheap. over that and you need to start engineering for it and that becomes expensive.
i say go for it - its a great engine, and in the s13 its gonna be awesome. it sits way back so handling is gonna be better. its gonna be close to 300rwkw. for that price you cannot get the same 300rwkw's from an SR!
also - FC and FD are not any lighter than the s13. in fact i reckon they may be heavier!!!
do it - its different...
and if gary gives you an e-poesklap, we gonna drive that rotary to durban and kick his ass with it and then brag about it on the forum with lots of e-asswhippings!!! but before we get back from durbs we are gonna also give him an e-wet-willy, and an e-how's-your-auntie!!!

Well the 13B would be awesome. If I had R30k to spend I'd do it... I'm cheap thus going for the straight forward SR swap!

Sokar - Piece of cheap advice. If you know somebody that really knows how to build and tune 13B's then go for it! Its awesome motors and very very reliable if built correctly!
I know a few guys that used them in their stock cars and the hall ass! But its all very well built motors with lots and time and money spend on it! If you get a good price on it all and it works you out cheaper, go for it and all of the best to you!

Rotary:
1. will smoke
2. use HUGE amounts of oil
3. will consume your months petrol allowance in 1 track day
4. will break
5. you will battle to fix it, those seals are a bitch
Seriously if you put R20k into your SR20 you can get 300kw easy.

20k for sr is rods, pistons and a turbo... you missing a couple of extra's to make 300kw... if it was so easy, there would be alot more of them running around at those figures... I think i know of about 7 in the country
