LOL I like the pics riekert. What exactly is wrong with the turbo?

hehe Thanx! well basically the shaft itself has a crap load of play and the intake and exhaust fans are bent. I think the turbo didn't get oil for some reason. I still want to take it to someone to check whats up. also when you try and turn the shaft its like it almost seized. so the turbo is officially stuffed. Maybe I can get it reconned. will see. just need another(bigger) turbo now.

Just a quick question... what does a normal recon of a turbo cost? and can it be done yourself?

well a turbo recon kit is about 600 bucks.

thats just basivcally a seal kit.

theres usually a big charge for labour.

and that turbo will need a new shaft and new wheels on both ends!!! maybe even new housings.

with my t25 i got a new exhaust housing, a new shaft, new wheels, new bearing and seals, and with labour came to about 4200-00. back then i was new to the sx game and naive so i just paid! how stupid was that!

oh ja - it could be done yourself if you had all sorts of specialised tools, but i recommend sending it to a pro - because its likely you dont have the tools!

Nice going there man... I'm glad to see more and more SX owners get their hands dirty...

yeah once you replace the wheels/shaft you need to balance the thing, which can only be done by a pro...

cant remember if i mentioned it already - but that turbo will need a new shaft and new wheels. maybe new housing because the blades made contact.

DO NOT keep that turbo! get a used t28.
