i thought this was a car forum????
and vlade - just get the thing reliable please, before you start fiddling. my god you've waited long enough. rather go fiddle with something else to get it out of your system.

Also found why my CAS alighnment key broke... the pin that presses into the CAS that holds the outer gear to the CAS wiggled loose, causing it to hit the CAM or something... but yeah not a biggy
Also found that my alternator belt is throwing of some shavings (rubber shavings) check that it wasn't too tight, any one have an idea why its doing it?

Hehe... I think I needed to bring back some pimp to the forum
You will be amazed at how many things Jap cars share... specially Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru. Common to get Mitsubishi starters and alternators on Nissan. The other 2 uses a lot of Nissan spares. Recent recall on Almeras shared the same part with the other 2 as well as some Mazdas. Jetro (Nissan owned), manuafactures auto gearboxes. Some BMW 5 series used them. At 1 stage Nissan SA build the bodies and engine blocks for City Golfs.... Honda seats... can't remember all. Isuzu 2.8 and Nissan 2.7 TD shares the same fuel injection. BMW local did the new era Skyline rear seats. Now the X-trail have some Renualt parts in the electrical system. Renualt Valsitas uses the 350Z engine. bla bla bla useless info
i used belts from on my engine that weren't originals from nissan. wasnt prepared for another shafting from Nissan Motor Company franchises!!!
i reckon it was a bit wide or something. mine did the exact same thing. when i was changing out noisy tappets i had to remove the cambelt covers, and i noticed the cambelt shavings everywhere. i checked the pulleys (cam, idler, tensioner) but they looked ok, but they belt seemed to want to position itself close to the big washer on the crank sprocketed pulley??? anyway, after some adjustments, and after i "straightened" the out of shape crank washer thingy, it seemed to come right!!!
it can be disastrous if the cambelt breaks though, so make sure its still ok, and that it doesnt keep on rubbing itself till it breaks. if it breaks, valves tend to meet pistons. i'm sure you dont want to rebuild again???

My 1st engine I opened up the cover and found I was running on half a cambelt... yes half still have it here, we put that washer the wrong way around and it ate half the belt...
Still don't know why my alternator belt is throwing shavings... belt also yells like pig sometimes (that to me is an indication that its too loose)
...ummm worked whole day on the car (well from 11 when I woke up) and archived nothing... not even sure what I did...
BTW: 732KM on the clock, so another 268KM for next oil change, then another 1000KM before switching to synthetic.
