ok think back, when exactly did you lose your marbles? maybe they fell out your shirt pocket when you looked down your open sump?

maybe you can crush a chlorine tablet into your water/meth dilution and it'll clean the pistons like toby's ceiling?

 @ Toby

Hey ChemClean

that carbon does look yucky but I guess you might be right about the 15 years of buildup, now the water/meth is slowly burning it away...

What does worry me is why the valve is so white... Normally you see that in N/A cars and when cars are running lean.

lean is good! it helps saving petrol (and the environment)

Anything was possible the few months before I pulled that old engine. Even ran only with water and 93 in stead of 95 etc. So me was not worried the past few months on the condition of the engine. But fine, we still need to know.

MARBLE RUMBLE, KRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....wada, wada, wada:

I Opened the old engine past Saturday morning. Although the conrods had all big plays on the crancksahaft, the worst off all was number one piston as we identified nr 1 previously by pulling off the plug wires. All bearings are totally damaged, but nr 1 piston again showed the worst results. All small ends were totally loose with way to much play. But for sure the biggest culprit for the marble rumble is caused by piston nr 1 rod bearings.
Although the main bearings showed hard worked done, I am satisfied the rumble sourced from rod bearings piston nr 1. So, this noise then happens when tapping off, and not when accelerating under like uphill road.

I am now feeling much comfortable, that I will see what went wrong in my rebuild engine. If every thing goes well, hope we can redo before middel Dec 2007.

Look the space between bearings and rod?

The rods inside like a mirror, caused by bearing movement?

If I have learned something, it was surely this Sat morning. To see how the rod bearings should not look like. This was good learning stuff. I will get there. It is not bearings, krrrr........... and turbos that are getting me down, no only my budget succeeds in that. This white Nissan 200sx CA18 DET S13 1991 will run.

Yoh those bearings are fooked hey... got your MMS's Chem, sorry was bit busy putting my baby's engine back in.

Yeah the only thing that I think can cause your new engine's bearings to krrr if the clearances was wrong I know you said the engineers made it 10/10 and we bought 10/10 oversize bearings, but we never actually checked that the clearances were correct...

I recon we pull that new lump of yours and check whats cooking...

In the meantime slowly but surely start to looses everything around the engine, we come one Saturday morning and pull it, scope it out and fix whats needed Sunday the motor goes back in :D

  I need to get my Project F post ontop again

Here with:

Today, it is hot. The power sharing of SA is with me. Electricity was off for two hours. Two hours wasted.
As I am sitting here and typing, I am dirty with oil all over.
While I am frustrated, I am also exited. My sx will run. And I will attempt doing it before this Christmas 2007.
Sorry to grave out old cows, but would you ever realized what a member like Vlade has gone through since more than a year ago?
Respect to this friend. He kept on going. Irrelative of what other people thinks, like we can’t even get our own motors running. Or school fees payed during the process of our rebuilds. This does not matter for a moment. What counts is, he is still going and fighting the sx’s.
Me and Toby, and perhaps others members too, also going through such stages, but surely not as long as with what happened to Vlade. And Phinxie and Daniel and and and.....
Each and every time something goes wrong, me Mr. Freddie Snijman gets richer in knowledge and wisdom. I like it.
What is important is what I learned from Draco lately. Accept the situation you currently in, and take it from there again.
Yes, budget is always a constraint, but somehow this learning processes counts a lot to me.
My project is called Project F, which I said is representing my FOCUS. This is me.
And instead of feeling alone, the opposite is the truth. I still have members around me willing to assist.
And yes, I think I belong to this community of sx owners, because I value their friendship.
I am looking forward to the day when my sx is running again, and idling again, and dyno tuned again and to sit down and meditate around the past during the rebuild processes. Just great.
