Hi All
Im that "crazy" friend of Garys looking for that mint S13.
I wont find it of corse. duh.
But as close as possible would be great.
I found one that is close to what i want.
I just need to go see it in Joberg. (I'm in Durban)
But now I'm being temped with an S14. Also in Joberg.
I don't know what to get now. Dammit.
I want S14 but its abit ugly compared to S13 (dons firesuit).
It costs abit more.
It cost alot more to insure. (I'm only 24)
But its better all round car.
mmmmmmmm im stuck.

But it will grow on you... my 1st reaction to a S14 as well...
Now it is time for me to don my firesuit
I believe to start with the better/newer base. But then again it is so much more fun to be the underdog...

you'll have better luck trying to find a real minter of an s14.
if you want a mint s13, you usually need to do some hard work!!!
you probably should go for the s14, for a number of reasons, but if i was prepared to spend s14 money, then i would probably buy and modify an s13 for a similar price!

your insurance will drop soon. take the s14 unless you can't afford it. if you don't eat, you can't drive..well not for long anyway.
you can always do something about the s14's looks.

an s14 with a sublte kit is a thing to behold actually.
you also get a lot better standard equipment, look at brakes, engine, hubs, etc.
you wont be disappointed with a decent s14!

Let me put it this way.
I got a bunch of cash lying around.
But not quite enough for a 200SX.
So my dad is willing to lend me the difference.
So from the sellers poinf-of-view he gets the the full amount in his hand.
NO BANKS involved ..l.
But then i need to pay my dad back. Thats all.
So if i get S13 it will take me 3 to 4 months to pay him back.
If i get the S14 it will take 12 months to pay him back.
Im not going to mention actual money figures here.
But this time i wont even try to mod anything untill i have paid my dad back.
Too be quite honest i dont want to mod the crap out the car.
Some rims a cone filter and exhaust will be fine.
Then when i got more cach much later on i will decide.
Maybe i will mod more.
Maybe sell as is for something else in 2+ years.
Maybe pack my bags and use my EU passport.
I cant think straight here at work now.

We got some nice things here.
Well ok SA is running out of reasons for me too stay but i still love SA. (thats untill i get shot or somthng)
S13...S14....S13....S14...dammit.

ok - lets look at it from a different angle.
s13's are no longer as cheap as they used to be. if you find one for 40 grand you're lucky. more likely to be 50 grand.
s14's are generally around 80 grand, but also seem to be climbing a bit, although not quite as fast as the s13.
i reckon the s14 is a better car, from a technology point of view.
but they both require their maintenance. so if you are borrowing money to buy an sx, and dont want to modify anything for at least a year, i would say buy something cheaper and more reliable.
you will need moeny to maintain this car, otherwise dont even think of buying one!!!

Good points there.
Thats why i want to pay off as fast as possible.
Remember i had an S13 upto just 2 weeks ago.
So i know they not cheap to look after.
How much more expsive is the S14 to look after though. Thats still not 100% clear to me. Only a person who's had both can really know though.
hehehehe what other cheaper car u had in mind?
Citi Golf? I thought of that too. I could by a used 1 today in cash and still have abit of change. Tempting. (But they boring and everyu 2nd person has 1)
