Ok I called Gabriel and they can make me up any shock I want. Juts got to give them the stroke and force. Now the stroke is easy but the force is the problem. How much will I need. I would think somewhere aroung 500N. The ones on the back door of a golf are 270N and that makes the door super light. This is not something that can be calculated only measured while at max torque and since I dont have a dyno I cant measure it.
I think 500N is a good bet. I mean if the ones on the back door of a golf are 270N...
These have no connection at all. Remember a large portion of the motors torque is transmitted through the drive train. Torque is measured in Nm and force in N. In order to compare these two we would need to know the distance from the center of the crank to the mounting of the damper. How much torque do you want to push out?
It would make sense that the shock must be "pushing" the same amount that the engine is "pushing" on it.
Allrighty then Mr smarty pants, arent you glad you asked us experts for advice or you would never have known what to do....Gary57 wrote:These have no connection at all. Captain Slow to the rescue!
Good shot because Gabriel in JHB can. They will make you up a shock that is capable of 500N and add gas or remove it to get the required force rating. SO you can get a 500N one, if you find it is too stiff take it back any they will make softer. Gabriel in DBN however cannot, they say there isnt a demand. Here's a shot in the dark, can Gabriel make you an ajustable shock to any spec?
hey knobs - i'm back and i see there is a shitload to read!!!
i was thinking that you should just go and buy the nismo engine mounts!!! i used to have an engine that moved hectically side to side under acc/dec, and so i bought new tight uprated mounts.
now i have an engine that just sits there and purrs sweetly!!! and does not move at all like it used to. was a very very good mod.
completely happy with those mounts - and i want a gearbox mount next!
