hey guys

I'm not any motor is wosre than the other at all... All i'm saying is, as much as the SR20 is a good plattform to start with, dont knock the ca18 until you've seen someone do it right. I was pushing 140kw just after rebuilding my ca18det and slapping a bigger intercooler and boost pipes aslso refurshing my turbo.... At the mo, it in the shop for water/meth, head work is done (gas flowed, ported and port matched)even bigger inter cooller with H2O bar, boost controller, management and two ten inch electric fans. Hoping i get a fairly big jump in power..
Next month its the cams, vernier gears, head gasket, msd coil pack.... And we all know it will never end there.

I still think you will get a bigger sense of achievement after building a strong high power ca18 than you would get from building a strong high power rb...

Thats just me. [smilie=200sx_200sx.gif]

Hey Guys, a few tips on getting a SR near bullet proof, If u can't afford full forgies like me. Resleave with proper quality performance forgie sleves and do a brian crower titanium valve spring / retainer set and do a rocker stoper. 9000 RPM with higher boost capabilities. Ja just don't run too lean still but can then push much more power, O and don't forget to do ACL race bearings top and bottom end

Hey white fang nobody was dissing anybody it was my own opinion and i did not say ca18 crap all i was saying in terms of money SR small mods are cheaper to mod and you get nice power gains and last longer

motors last depending on how YOU take care of it... also remember that a import motor is not a new motor never is and never will be. Be realistic - a stock S14 SR has 164KW or something... if you want double the power the motor must be double as strong (at least) 400hp stock internals probably will run once and will never be reliable. Even though a 1000hp SR is possible it is probably built to run once only before just about needing a rebuild. having huge amount of horses = low amount of reliability. Even though SR motor are in the top 5 best motors ever.

And the answer to all the questions re power VS reliability = no replacement for displacement.

keep it stock and you will never have a problem , TRUE STORY

Mod it and the drug bites you hard, R100K will be spent before you know it and you still wont be where you want it to be...........

I loved my sx and had really good times with it, i lost a absolute fortune on it as you will not get half your money back, you mod for yourself and dont expect anything back and just enjoy the car as its a hoot .

I wont buy another one as i know myself, i will want to mod it and end up like my last one.

If you dissiplined and know what you want and stick to it the car will treat you well, say SR 240kw will be enough and STOP there ;)

If you want to go big then do it properly with good ecu and name brand parts and the motor will last forever as long as the right builder and tuner are doing it ;) thats the key

stick to these guidlines and you will love the sx :)
