Epic FAIL

Fitted new fuel pump and the cleaned AFM same problems. Fitted another working AFM no difference. checked error codes on ecu and got 55

I really thought the pump was the problem.

Strange its finding no faults....does it sound like a limiter or is it just being sluggish and stopping around there?

In neutral you can press the pedal to WOT and it will rev to 4k and bounce like a limiter.

Might have found the leak, held my hand over the intake pipe while the car idled and heard air sucking in from the IC. How do you get to the STD S13 IC?

Check your cam timing.

If the cams are off a single tooth they will do exactly what you describe.
Did it run before? Were the cams removed?

CA not reving above 4k

Post by rat »

Found a boost leak, one of the pipes from the ic was loose. Made no difference.

Don't know if the cams have ever been worked on. Will check the timing during the week. Hope it is not a cracked head.

CA not reving above 4k

Post by djtreble »

The symptoms do not sound like boost leak. Any chance of a video of it doing it? Does it also do this in gear when driving? In neutral if you rev it up gradually does it still limit at 4k?

Also are you absolutely certain it is standard in the engine management department, including the wiring?
