Pre gap is normally 0.8 but always check

Thats best If you do that, I found that 0.6 mm gap works best, had spluttering from about 4500rpm, made it 0.6 and all was fine

Your coils must have been shot std gap is 1.1

Shot is a nice way to say it, but yes, they are over the hill, Luckily not going to go back in my car!

I had a similar prob along time ago, changed plugs etc etc, it was my fuel filter. replaced it, all sorted.
