I have it fitted to my SR20DET and @ .9 bar with a stock redtop I have 191 kw's. It is a WR280 , if you want more.. go with the WR380 ! :D
Did you get the WR380 yet?

Not yet charl. I am toying between the WR380 and asking a friend of mine to build me a lethal T3/ T4 hybrid.

He built 1 for my buddy's 4AGZE , ( as I am sure you know - 1600 16v Toyota ) Stock motor with a T3/T4 turbo @ 1.2 bar ...... 291 kw's / 535 nm

......and that is the smaller of the 2 that he built for us. The bigger one is still in the cupboard.

I am in the process of selling my workshop and so I don't want to start working on the "BEAST" and then suddenly sell the business and the car is stripped in the middle of the workshop.

Is the WR280 a copy of the GT2860RS?
Where did you get it?
How long have you had it?
Thanks.

Have a look at this; it's pretty helpful:

Howsat man... sorry , but I am not receiving emails to let me know that there is another comment on this thread , hence the late reply.
I bought the WR280 from Charl , he knows who the agents are in the Jo'burg area. It is a T28 / T3 hybrid. The GT2860RS is tthe popular , but expensive choice for an upgrade. My WR280 I had bought from Charl was 6 months old when I got it and I have had it on my car now for about 8 months , and I drive her everyday. Still no problems , no smoking , no funny noises. It spools up at 2800 rpm and keeps going all the way to the redline. I want more power now which is the only reason why I will remove it. It also fits perfectly onto the standard manifold, you must just make up or extend oil feed , return is fine and then blank off the water lines, and have a new flange and downpipe done. I did the swop and including the Turbo , it cost me R4500. Not bad for an extra 50 kilowatts on low boost !!

Cool, thanks Andrew.200SX. Mr Turbo have a T28/T3 hybrid and I was wondering how it performs.
One more thing; was that 191kW at the wheels or flywheel?

I would assume that it is at the flywheel, but it was done at Dynotech and the guys say that it is a stingy dyno. One of the guys here on the forum with a RB25 gets 245 on that dyno. Also keep in mind that I have done no mods at all to the motor , and the intercooler is tiny .......aaaaannnnddd the turbo is basically 1 turn up from it's lowest setting @ .9 bar with quite a bit of travel to go. Izak at Dynotech said that I could go nuts on the boost for crazy power , but then I need Avgas.
I must also add that I have run with a non standard ( spitting flames out of the exhaust on gear changes ) 2010/11 Focus RS and we run neck and neck. I can't drop him and he can't drop me ! That is a 2.5 5 cylinder running 1.5 bar boost.

Hold up, I know 3 people that have complained about the Mr Turbo hybrids, the T28 hybrid. One person has replaced twice, my boet's one cracked, his friends one ran a bush and started tumbling, and another buddy, well he was a dumb ass, never let the turbo spool down before switching ignition off, but still, 3 months n gone.

The 1 that I got is specifically called the WR280. Yes it is a Chinese turbo and yes I have read all the warnings on the forums , but mine hasn't given me a days trouble and it was second hand !

which one of them will be the best match for a sr20 notchtop, making good power all the way without much lag?

Which is exactly why I fitted the WR280 ! If I had known a bit better , I would have fitted the WR380.
