You can fit a branch-type manifold, had good feedback on that.
yeah vlade was real successful with that! i would only recommend the big brand types! or at least a thorough check on the inside before fitting it!

there are other problems - like having to move ABS unit, and change flanges on exhausts.

what about other log types - heard from someone up here that they made custom. i think the guy was referring to cast manifolds!??!

and this is what i meant about widow's spandex chick blowing a gasket.

My manifold was also leaking so i took it to my mac and he took it off and checked that it wasn't cracked, but all 4 gaskets were blown. So he skimmed the manifold and replaced gaskets!

Now its running super again :D

Cheetah Exhaust in Rosslyn has got the propper oven to heat it and then weld it. If it is not done properly it will crack again. Cracking is normally caused by other things such as running lean on 1 or more cylinders.... They charged me R700 too fix. Since replaced with a stainless, but then you have heat problems again... :(

Exh. Manifold Gaskets

Post by Deens »

Gary, do you know of a place in Durban where I may be able to buy some decent exhaust manifold gaskets for my car (CA18DET)? I think that the ones that I installed are the ones that don't work well. Less than 5000km and they're blown. Thanks in advance.

Gaskets

Post by Deens »

Thanks buddy, will call you. The Wrankler with the spares went underground, deep, deep, deep. Hey Windows...maybe two sx's is two, too many for this small town buddy. Actually there are a few running around...maybe there are others but they are just resting somewhere. You know what it's like with with these babies, they run well, then they want to rest. I have just come back from a 4 week stint up in darkest Africa, hence the abscence. The car rested all this while. She started first time and then somewhere on the highway the exh. manifold gaskets said "whoa mamma, too much pressure".

how hard is it to take the manifold off?

I recently also srpung a leak. Not quite sure if it's against the head or where the turbo and manifold meet. or between the exhaust and the turbo side.
