Throttle body sensor

a previous thread was quite clear about smt6 and smt7 not working on the CA18det's. so are there other throttle response mods to do.The Calibrator wrote:Tricks for better throttle response= Piggyback mapped properly.
or does that CAS disc sort those previous installation issues out?

my car developed a misfire on friday morning, after i used a pressure washer to clean the engine bay on thursday evening. last week.
that miss is not going away. i've checked electronics, checked timing, done a full service, and rechecked everything again.
i reckon its the TPS - because of the long drive to work today. at idle, or with only a touch of the throttle, the engine blips and misses all the time.
with the throttle slightly depressed, the car behaves normally on all four cylinders, and will rev all the way to the redline... so its still driveable.
but as soon as you push the acc pedal too far it misfires. and it seems that the mixture is igniting in the exhaust because the boost gauge jumps up by 0.1 bar in unison with the loud popping noises that can be heard from the exhaust.
the boost will also carry on climbing because of this. i stopped checking at 0.7 bar!!!
draco - did you get these symptoms when fiddling with the TPS???
i am convinced that the TPS is the problem!!!
anyone else care to help?

i dont like the inappropriate use of the word "we" in this sentence, and i've also seen myself mame a little biscuitmaker like you!!!widowmaker wrote:

aaaannnnnyyyyyywwaaaaaayyyyy...
i knew that the water in the engine bay was a bad thing to do, but i stayed away from electrics, and it happened anyway.
i replaced the plugs this weekend with the service, and checked the gaps, and set them this time to the standard 1.1mm. also i went through the connectors with a multimeter, and they seem fine. i also replaced the power transistor with a spare that i have, and it didnt change the symptoms!
so i'm confused. i will check that damn TPS again, because i remember similar symptoms when i had a problem with it before.
i am ready to install a damn toyota motor at the moment!!!
anyone want a ca18det with forgies????

Veecee it seems all the sx's has a GHOST in the engin...he is called Murphy the F*CKER, yesterday my story started again.....drive normally and then put foot on exelirator, the nose dives like for a milly second and then she starts pulling, when she is cold she has a miss witch goes away when she is hot.
The exeleration problem, I think it is my tps that is out somehow, it feels like there is a delay before the shit comes together. O and another thing, when this happens normally it spews more black smoke than normal, as if it over-fuelled for a milly second or the spark was delayed or murphy pissed in my injectors or......

exactly... it is murphy.
and i also get unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust, i reckon that's why i get that misfiring anti lag system effect - because when the car is hot, then some of the unburnt fuel spontaneously combusts on its way out through the exhaust manifold, causing my boost to climb up instantly in increments of about 0.1 bar!!!
i havent managed to get to the TPS yet, and tonight is wednesday night drift session - dammit!!!! i really wanted to park in front of the pub too!!!

A previous post may have been cleare about SMT6's not working unfortunately none of them was fitted by me.
SMT 7's will never work as they only work on cars with crank triggers.
I have done enough Unichips and SMT6's on CA18's to offer all of you a money back gurantee. I fit and map you not happy I remove and refund your money.[/quote]

Yesterday after I posted my post here I thought to myself lets just go and see what happens.....I went to my car, drove it to a place in the parking no one would desturb me, then started pulling the plugs, obviosly like always, plugs are black from carbon, atleast it is not running lean.
I decided to regap the plugs from 0.6 where I always gap them to 0.8, put everything back, what do you know, as soon as I started her there is a miss on idle, so that didn't work it just made it worse.....
As I am at work I leave it like this because I can't work on my car the whole day while i am at work. So I go to pick up Freddy because we are going to Wesbank for the nismo thing, just out of town the traffic starts building.....accident, so I go another root, murphy smiles at me with that smurk, the same thing....traffic, as I stand and idle I feel the miss is getting worse, it now sounds and feels as if the car wants to die, so the traffic mooves and I moove, only diffs is as I pull away to moove forward the car spews out black smoke like murphys pumping gallons and gallons of extra petrol into the combustion chamber.
At long last the traffic starts to flow again and I am pissed at murphy and my car, so I give it a good wipping, suddenly the miss is gone and the smoke is much less than it was, if I mean less emagine the black smoke being so bad that the lady behind me had to wait for the smoke to clear before she mooves forward, less now means at least you can only see it a bit in the rear view mirror.
Stop at Freddie, idle smooth, pulls good, not clouds of black smoke like in the traffic.....W>>>T>>>F!!!!!!!
I know the car was overfueling but how is it there then gone?
