Dunno so much, new 4 bar pump and also sits a little lower than the previous. My boet was also thinking that is what it could be, but didn't help. Did notice the tank full of gunk when replacing it though, but didn't bother to clean it out, still planing on stripping it again for the new level check thingy anyway so will clean it out then and see.
Back to Poizens question though, This might be a stupid idea, but doesn't a tanks level check thing work like a toilet flush lever? With a float? and if so, couldn't bending the float lever slightly up make the light come on sooner?
If anyone can confirm this, and that it would work, them I'm definatly gonna do it, dun wan a get stuck AGAIN.....

I have just had to replace my cars fuel pump and while doing so I investigated the cause of the reserve light not operating correctly and I think I have the answer for you all....
I have noticed that there is a small black wire at the lid to the tank where you go through to get the fuel pump installed....this was not connected on my car and I have corrected this now.
when I heard that some of you had the light working the first thing that came to mind was that wire, just check it out...might be your problem...thats all:)
I hope you all come rite like I did, if not PM me.....I have the official Nissan japan printed book on the SX.....just shout!!!!

Oh, and I know what the unit looks like.....
its that small silver thing that looks like a microphone you'd clip to your cloths if going on TV....lol, bad explanation but if you like I could always draw up a picture....this silver pickup need to be adjusted if yours is working but only when you are standing on the side of the road already.

I have cleaned out the tank on mine and honestly the I have gotten the needle below the red line without the light coming on. but sometimes it does come on when it goes really low and under the red line. have even tried to see if it comes on at all and was driving with a 5L of fuel in the boot. had to abandon that idea when I needed to travel far.

mine came on for the first time in 3 years the other day its really dim so hard to see it also the needle was so far down its like nissan want to tell you that you have no fuel when the light comes on not like todays cars that tell you you have 80km left

LOL, well at least my Golf GTI from 1990 had a light that came on about 55km before you had nothing left....
I would lift that sensor up a few mills to see if it makes a difference, also try to lift that sensor out of the fuel to see if its working first....
very easy to do, if I can do it anyone can!!!

Mine comes on at the last empty line. I can still get quite some distance out if it after that. Havent run out of fuel yet.
In my daily the light comes on just before the empty mark. when the trip computer says i have got 0km left I can still put on another 80km lol

my fuel needle goes way past the last line, drive for about 80kms, then fuel light comes on, the still got +- 5l of fuel left, anyone know a way to make my needle read properly?

I am just taking a gues here but your fuel pump has been replaced before and the unit might not be sitting correctly, or the person who took it out was a bit rough with it and hurt the slider connections.
I am pretty sure that its just an adjustment in the tank, remove the unit from the tank and do a few tests, while all is connected and the key in the on possition slowly move the pump and the whole unit up till you see the reserve light come on, once you have found the pount where the light comes on then all you need to do is adjust it to where you like it to come on.....you could even go a step further and put an amount of fuel in your car that you'd like to have as the reserve size......say 10 litre or 7 litres or what ever and then you adjust it with the car on level surface to turn the light on just before you have closed the unit flush against the tank....you shouldnt have a problem after that.
if you cant follow me with what I just said then PM me.

OK, first question is, are you talking about fuel level sensor? Or are you talking about a air or water temp sensor (Thermistor) ?
Secondly, if u actually talking about temp sensor, what system? Dicktator or standard ecu or what?
If u actually mean Thermistor as in temp sensor then u need a nissan one for nissan ECU, or any mapped thermistor for Dicktator or the likes.
I can arrange for a mapped thermistor if you need one. Just PM me.

hey powder .......I am actually talking about that little sensor witch is connected to your fuel pump unit .
It is for your fuel reserve light.......to my knowledge it works like this :
It is a ntc sensor and as your fuel drops and the sensor is out of the fuel it heats up a little ( witch increases the resistance of the resistor or thermistor) and sends current to your Fuel reserve light bulb in your car. And if you fill up The fuel will cool down the resistor or thermistor and decrease the Heat and so the resistance and breaks the current to your fuel reserve light bulb.
Now over time this sensor heats up and burn and need to replace it.
I have used Google and could most of the time only find the same kind of sensor used on bikes but now i do not know if it will work on my car and also the bike sensor is not always connected to the fuel pump unit. Also i have found that some guys on their bikes though replaced theirs and worked fine.

So i will this week try to get to a electronic shop and ask if for some thing like that. I will get different ones with different resistances and Go and test it after replacing it. I will use similar one that the guys who fixed their bikes ones.
PS: I am a Marine Diesel Fitter and have limited electronic knowledge.
