I Tried starting a sr20 that stood for 2 years....took 4 days of checking everything numerous times. It started after that -I wondered if it would've helped to tow the car just to get the engne speed up to raise the oil pressure.
Once it started it was like there nothing wrong !!!Felt like 4 days gone from my life... Keep cranking or tow it I think.
I couldn't work on it yesterday , because I hurt my back quite badly in the gym .
I am all drugged and braced up today , so I did a compression test now and the compression looks right , but the battery is allmost flat again , so I am charging it now.
It didn't sound like it wanted to start though anyway.
I am very tempted to put the old lifters back and re-check.
Bloody thing is driving me nuts.
IF NISSAN MOTORSPORT IS NISMO , DOES THAT MAKE HONDA MOTORSPORT HOMO ?!
What are the chances that the power transistor decided to go for a ball of shit ?
The manual says to check that the rev counter's needle moves while cranking , mine isn't moving at all, and the compression is right now,and still, no go !!
I just pulled no:1 spark plug and coilpack and when I put the ignition on there is spark.....and I can smell the fuel...so WHY won't she fire up !!

I allways disconect the battery while charging , because I am allways scared that the charger will cock something up.
I am now contemplating putting the old lifters back and re-trying,but surely if the compression is correct then it can't be the lifters holding the valves open.
There was only 1 very slightly noisy lifter , but at least the bloody thing ran !

i think this might be one of those frustrating times where during disasembly/asembly to fix one thing, something else got buggered up, without you realizing.. so now you keep thinking you fixed it wrong, meanwhile something totaly unrelated gave up the ghost.. very frustrating
maybe start thinking what all got removed in order to replace the lifters? like cas, ect.. mayhap the cas timing has gone for a loop, i have done this myself before, i broke the little locating tab off the exhaust cam without realizing.. just a thought.
Yeah. I put the old lifters back and again she started and ran for 2 seconds and now again no joy. I have another mechanic coming out this morning to give her the once over and see if he can figure out what the hell is going on.
Compression does seem to be a bit low on cylinders 2 , 3 & 4. On 1 the compression is at 1000 kpa, and the rest 800.

Re-checked the compression this morning...... 1000kpa on 1 and 0 on 2,3 & 4. Fantastic.
Just had another mechanic here, and he says that the head needs to go to engineering to sort out the lifters with the cams !
Surely there must be another way. Money doesn't grow on trees. I thought I hit a luck with the lifters , but now it is starting to get expensive.

Dude - your valve seats are probably cut too deep, thus your lifters are bottoming out and you don't get comp.
To test this, turn the motor till the valves are closed. Get a piece of wood or something and press on the lifters below the cam (with the cam in) if they can move a little bit they're fine. If they can't compress a little then they are bottoming out. This means that you will either have to have the head removed and fixed (lots $$) or take the offending lifters out - open them up and put the inside valve part in a lathe and trim a SMALL amount (like 0.5mm) off of the inside end that the little cap thing sits over (the little chamfered edge).
This is NOT the correct way to do it, but it will work (less $$).
