you know you sor ude hheehee, thanks, but what and how do i restrict too much oil in the head? this could be why i ran bearings practicing with my (ex) r33, and i dont want to do that again with my latest rb when i have it fitted.

 Looked like the engine blew up ! Without the right restrictors in the block, u can run the engine the whole day under 6000rpm, but go to 7000rpm and the tappet covers fill up by the time u reach 4th gear, and then oil out the breather pipe. That was the only thing on the first RB30DET that wasnt right.

Recieved the last of the engine parts. Forged rods from Spool in Auz. Main reason for the rods are not only strenth but less weight than std. If all goes well, should start assembling end of the week.
For those who didnt know, RB30's have a very good rod to stroke ratio of 1.76/1 compared to RB25/26, just means less of an angle during the up-down stroke and less sideways wear on the sleave and piston. The long stroke results in high piston speed compared to RB25, but lighter, stronger forged pistons and rods still allows reliable high rpm (up to 9000rpm used by RIPS in New zealand on std crank and block) I wont need to go that high.
