Phinx you pissed off...understandible, when I got my car I started picking up problems, I had petrol pump problems, as soon as that was done the clutch went, after that I had to redo the turbo, then the motor, then I thaught it was turbo again and I had my car back at the turbo guys many times in the first 5 months it was on the road for maybe a month and a half of all that time.

If I didn't owe money I maybe would have sold aswell but in the end I did what was nessisary and today I am not regretfull at all.....

Look guys I don't mean to sound rude.

But its damn silly to be spending this amount of cash on these car, in all honest most people don’t know what they really are, they don't pull chicks that great and in stock to mild form most hot hatches will kick them around and at the end of the day it’s still a Nissan.

Honestly it’s a 1980's sports car and it’s never going to be anything more then that. I know the car is old and Bla, Bla, Bla, but burning my hard earned money at the end of every month would give me more JOY.

I love my car, but this shit really has to stop. There is no support from Nissan SA in this country for this car. The rotary guys get more support from Mazda for a car that was never sold here. I mean R2700 for a water-pump your insane (P.S I really don’t care if an RB pump cost more I can’t afford this)

I know I’m not the best mechanic in the world; I have screwed up fixing my car
So has every mechanic at some time, but now im starting to realized that the Ca18det is flawed and so are the RWD SR20DET and the RB because there is no spares or open support. Now don't get me wrong we can get parts but at what price and from where? Most of the time we beg, steal or borrow or hope we can make a part work for use because everything is so expensive.

Let’s have a look at the average guy with his golf with a 2.0i conversion or 1.8T conversion. I know many people that have done this and they aren’t having half the shit! no wait a ¼ of the shit we are have and these cars and are twice as fast as ours (yes a 2.0i in a golf is a very powerful thing) with more parts available and 20 times more reliable.

Yes I know they cant drift, well in all honesty I would rather like to get to westbank in my modified car to show it off and not being able to drift then, Then break the F##k down trying to get there and wondering what was that noise every 10 seconds while driving the car. We or sould I say “I” must stop fooling myself the car is old its slow, body-parts are expensive, replacement costs are crazy ……. WHY DO I STILL HAVE THE THING? I honestly have NO Idea. Maybe I am hoping and praying it gets better.

We as the 200sx community have fallen into a trap we fool ourselves with (and every 200SX gut I know does this):

JUST ONE MORE THING, I HAVE TO FIX JUST ONE OR TWO MORE PARTS THEN SHE WILL BE FINE.

I’m going to tell you honestly and break your dreams it’s never going to happen ever. I know there are people out there that have spent more money on there cars fixing it. I don’t care im not trying to match you cent for cent. I’m telling you that I have come to the end of my rope, I Have WASTED months of my life at both work and under that car that I can never in my life get back. I have used the best part I could afford. Please note I said that “I” could afford I am not a millionaire

Hi Phinx, we all understand that you are severely hacked off but being so negative about your situation is not helping anyone, least of all yourself.

The best thing you can do right now is get a few mates together and go have a beer somewhere, go to teasers, whatever, but get your mind off your car for a few hours. You will be able to approach your dilemma from a from a different angle once you have calmed down a bit.

I for one am more than happy to help you out in whatever way I can as are other members I am sure. I work at Equator most afternoons so pop in.

To everyone else: Instead of getting butt hurt by his comments rather step back and realise that he is just letting off some steam, so let him. None of his comments are meant as personal attacks, try not to take them as such. He will calm down in his own time at which point he will be far more receptive to your suggestions. And these are the days of our lives...

My car is great, just need to buy new tyres.

Honestly I have been so busy working my ass off for a client this last month that I have spent hardly any time with the love of my life :(

Let me know when you going to wesbank again and I will come through even if not in my SX.

Dude, remember he could have been misinformed about the car, how much work it needs, how much trouble it gives. Thats y Im first checking out this forum about this car, b4 I set my heart on it. If ur complaining about his whining, then dont read it. I didnt even read all of it. I got his point already.

Sphinx does have a point that most of us are living under a illusion of having our own 'modified' ride, which is cool an all. But the problem we do have, is how many RWD turbo's cars are for sale here, at an affordable price, thats not so old? The 200sx's are as common as golfs in Australia, and thats a common modified ride there! here we honestly have sucky choices. A 200sx, a MR2, a sum really old Ford is RWD I think, a BMW etc. Can u guys think of any other 'affordable' RWD car with power? THats y most guys opt for the 200sx. even though it gives problems... its ours.

yeah... I dont feel like preaching further.

@Sphinx: Yo dude, sorry about ur bad luck. Hope u come right. We'll ALL help u if u do want it. Peace bru....... good luck. Come dice us with ur Zooped up golf or whatever cool car u might decide to get! In the end, if ur happy with the ride, then its AWESOME. Doesnt matter! Just dont get opel!

Don't worry man I feel exactly the same... but as someone told me, if you don't take any shortcuts eventually there can't be much that will break. But it takes time...

I think you are only halfway where I am dude... I have replaced and fixed nearly every mechanical thing on my car, except the rear diff and drive shafts... up to that point I have touched and worked on every single thing!

Get rid of the viscus fan, and go buy a freaking R180 water pump from SparesLink, wham your on your way again.

I'm going to raise a point now that I might piss off even some of the senior SX owners around here... You made a mistake buying this car if you did it by finance.

You cant expect to buy an 14 year old car, pay the bank, and still maintain it... that gets expensive even for the guy with deep pockets... The thing is if you bought the car cash... spending a few bucks on maintenance becomes rather invisible.

I am at the point of selling because I'm spending money on a white elephant, I took shortcuts in my modifying process and I'm now paying the price for it... I spent a shit load of money building an engine that doesn't work (I believe, others are more positive that its not, but again I'm not an expert)... it defines the process of modifying where you actually try to improve the original. I feel I failed many people and myself, and thus just want to end it all. I'll want to own an SX again, but maybe a newer model that isn't so old.

Phinx I get your pain.....if you decided it is the end then it is, you have reached a point that Vlade reached and many other most propably get to.

Sell the car, get on with your life, get the golf or whatever makes your hart pump...be happy.

I know something for myself, I love alot of cars but at the end the sx is tops for me, if 1 day I decide the engine is frot and I don't want a new sx enjin I wil make a plan to put another enjin in that swings the shit, in the end I feel I have spent to much time and money to loose it.

I was stupid enough to sell my toyota s/w witch I spent years on modifying and building for sound, she gave me alot of grey hares and headaces and also time and money, I won numerous compititions and got alot of 2nd and 3rd's, in the end I sold it without the sound ofcource, for R7500, today I want to cry when I remember her, I was stupid and if I sell my sx I will regret it more one day.

why cant we all just get along!!!

THIS POST IS MEANT TO PURVEY A LITTLE RATIONAL THOUGHT, AND NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE, AND AS A RESULT IS RATED 16. IF YOU ARE PERVIOUS TO OFFENCE IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU LOG OFF NOW!

Phinx - you seem to be a little oversensitive about this whole thing, and making statements like that, you should've known that there was going to be some kind of comeback. this is the 200sx forum afterall, and there is not much that you could say that would convince everyone that their cars are shit, and that they should follow in your footsteps and sell them.

there is no chance i would sell my car, unless i needed the money to prevent myself or my family from dying!!! and with every project like this there is a point of no return. i have definitely passed it, i reckon vlade has passed it, there are a couple of others i'm sure.

i would never buy a car, join a forum/club, get pissed of with my decision, and then try to convince everyone there that the decisions that they've made are bad ones too!!!

that said - phinx has a right to voice his opinions too. but to lash out at someone who is trying to help, worsens the situation i think.

this whole thing has gone from being constructive, to being petty and immature. i agree with jon that phinx is obviously blowing off steam, but i dont think that it should be done in public on the forum.
