i put mine on top of the pipe as it levels out.
advantages:
1. protected by downpipe in front of it. no stones or other debris can really get to it.
2. its pointing straight down. no residue build up to cause it to fail.
3. its far enough away from the hot turbo
4. its close enough to the big grommet behind the abs unit, so the plug and wire can go into the cabin there.
5. its easy enough to remove with only one side of the car up if you need to.
cons:
1. dunno of any!

it was some hackjob that the owner did!
i think it was 12v wired straight into the cable. so it was direct from the battery!

VC got a 1 or 2 gb one with his, but thats a little overkill considering that we logged about 8 mins of ODBII Data from the RX8 on 7 channels (MAF, TPS, RPM, O2, IAT, VSS, BAR) and the file was about 160kb. Its actually an awesome piece of kit!
Even a tiny card would sort you our for now.... Hmmm I must check I might have a 256mb one lying around somewhere...

Idle = +-13.5-15.5
Crusing = 16-18
Boost = 10-13

lol - imagine that!!!
hehe - nice!
however, does it really fluctuate that much? up to 2.0 points???
mine would jump around by about 0.2 points max.

Good to see you got it working Charlvdw
The idle looks good, I take it you seeing the 13.5 at start-up both warm and cold then it runs down to 15 ish?
Cruising is a little on the lean side from my experience 16 is the lowest I will go and 18 is pushing the EGT's through the roof plus the car will be suffering from a lack of torque and response
Boost - Looks good as well, But the 10 is a bit high for the CA gain from my experience pull her down to 11.2 - 11.7 you will feel the improvement in both speed and fuel economy.
It looks like to me that your midrange off boost to on boost zone is lean as well I might be wrong, Once I corrected this area on my CA the car had a lot more torque off boost and made running around town at 3000RPM and below a lot nicer
