get yourself a decent wideband, maybe a knock readout too, and start reading as much as possible (threads like these), and give it a bash yourself on the road!

and remember rather rich than lean!

i must admit tho - its a lot more difficult than i make it sound! but thats cos there is a steep learning curve!

lol - good idea!!!

i must say though - i am struggling with this. but mostly cos i cant get my machine connected to the gotech, cos it has no battery and needs power, but so does my wideband!

so i will go get one of those lame ass double cigarette lighter thingies, and try again.

also - i blew my boost pipes off last night trying, so i need better hose clamps. its time to mission around i think!

my good laptop doesnt want to recognise any serial/usb connector!

and the laptop with a serial port has no battery at all, so it needs permanent power!

thats kak...

I think you need to invest in a new laptop, or buy a very long extention cord...LOL

I have a Laptop you can use. Battery life is about an hour, but the hard drive died...

So you can install your hard drive and use it if you want.

What brand is the Laptop that dies?

I can honestly see why you are struggling , I was very lucky my management system accepts input from my wideband so I can see on a graph the cell accessed the requested AFR and the real AFR and tune from there my fueling took me about 30minutes to lay out and 6 months to fine tune.

I just want my Knock board to work so I can start on the timing

all i need to get is a map sensor, the old mans beetle has one that i think i can use!

then i can use the wideband to log RPM, AFR and MAP. should be enough.

but i'm also having issues with the correct settings on the accelerator pump sensitivity and ms settings, which means it doesnt like to rev up from idle nicely.

also - when i climb onto boost the car bogs heavily, and the AFR reading shot to 8 something from a steady 12-13.

so ya - i have some work to do!

if my car was stock i would also go with that nistune without a doubt. makes life easy!

Hey hey, I see we have a lot of "tuners" on the forum...

Guys if this is something you have not done before, stay away unless you want to pay the "school fees"

PFB - I agree, a lot of the everyday driving - is normally on the section Dyno tuning does not get to... If your tuner has not done at least an hour on the road tuning - the car is not tuned!!!!!!!!! Then we havent even touched on Cold start enrichment etc..... Then we havent even touched on Cold start enrichment etc.....

My tuner include about 1 to 2 hours on the road tuning in his so called DYNOTUNE. Jacques PPR peformance in GEORGE 083 564 6499 - I have seen a few of his dyno printouts on the forum e.g. Rudeboy. He charges R 850 for a dynotune which include road tuning.... Total about 4 hours. He lives 350Km from me, But I put my car on a trailer and do the trip everytime.

Give him a shout or get your tuner to do some tuning while you drive !!

I’m a pay the school fee's type of guy ..

But I’m sure a Few guys here can benefit from the advice and contact details and I can’t help but agree if it hasn’t been road tuner it’s not done right.

Like gary said a dyno has its place but its so small I would rather road tune and log the data

lol - i havent really tuned before...

but i've paid a lot of school fees and i dont mind paying more!

also - i've paid a lot for some nice equipment, and i have many friends, from this forum and elsewhere, who are giving lots of input too.

so i think things will be ok.

i just stick to the wise suggestions, question the incomprehensible ones, and go with the flow!!!

i already know a whole lot more than i did yesterday, so tonight...

we try again!!!

LOL!

I have a bikirom for a S14 and mine does not work either... software support has also been halted... sucks... but anyway... my S14 should be running at the end of May or early June... will be trying to get a nistune board before then and tune on road...
