according to thr aussies the vg30de/t , ca18/16de/t, rb25 share the same lifters...i am just interested in now if those autozone jobbies are holding up? You got any feedback andrew? I know alerts lifters are like 45 a piece and then master parts have two brands to choose one being 75 a piece and the more expensive made by ajusa 160 a piece.....

Morning 1 and all.
I only got 4 lifters from Autozone and they are still fine.I couldn't figure out which lifter was noisy so I just changed the first 4 on the exhaust side so long. I did however change the oil that I was using and now I can barely hear the lifter anyway. Masterparts quoted me R440 + vat per lifter for the CA18DET ( clearly on some or other mind enhancing drugs ) , Alert quoted R65 a piece inclusive. Just ask for a NIssan Sentra 1.8 16v lifters , if you mention SX the price grows at a rapid rate. I will change the other 12 lifters at a later stage , as I said since changing the brand of oil , it doesn't really bother me anymore.

Sorry , but on these forums you never know when someone is taking the piss !
The easiest is , when the car is idling and you hear a tinny knocking noise , tik tik tik (like the stuff that the Masterparts salesmen are on) , that is a noisy or are noisy lifters.

normally when the car is hot after a good drive so the oil is thin i had 16 tik tik tik tiks, also thicker oil will help that what i did with mine and they are quiet now

Is the squeak there only at start up ,and only for a few seconds or is it constantly there ?

More than likely a worn or loose fanbelt. If you have a access to a couple of spanners , just adjust the fanbelt tensioners.

went to check out the ca18det lifters at autozone
very similar to rb25, oil hole on the side was slightly smaller
but the centre island piece on the bottom was of a greater radius that the rb25 one..but otherwise dimensions seemed identical
