LOL you know me to well dude, But I don’t have the cash this month to buy so , I will do it abit later.

I will make a small shield in the mean time

Just had a 57mm Stainless Steel, 2 box system fitted from the knuckle total cost R1630..

I am happy with the system as the car is quiet at Highway speeds but it does have a nasty fart can sound at light throttle when accelerating at around 300RPM

Impressions
-------------------

The car does pull better lower down and flooring it in first off idle results in a little wheel spin but the car still feels dead on top , hopefully the branch can sort this out

Well guys had an exhaust mission impossible yesterday and today

The import branch was a mission to fit and did fit the new 57mm knuckle so we heated the branch and pulled it down slightly to match the knuckle but I had the stock knuckle replace while I was there as the gasket didn't fit the branch's knuckle

Total Cost R 250.

Here are few pictures:

I have to admit the GA16DE is an interesting motor. Both the exhaust and branch have really increased low down torque the car fells allot more willing between 1000RPM - 3500RPM and putting you foot down in first between those rev's results in a little wheel spin from my 15 inch 205 tires not bad in my eyes for a 1600cc,I think because of the motors long stroke 88mm but sadly its not very willing to rev and torque does drop off at around 5500rpm

In September, I’m thinking of getting the following for the Sentra

* Magnecor KV85 Competition 8.5mm Plug Wires
* MSD Blaster 2 Coil
* Prothane Motor mount Inserts
* Walbro 255LH low presure pump

Then once the clutch goes a lightweight flywheel but what Im really waiting for is the NIStune Type 5 board just to get a little extra out of the motor.

I’m going with the improved ignition because my old leads are cracked and OEM replacements are R700 and cheap Midas units are R500 the magnicor items are R800. The same with the motor mounts as the stock rear item is cracked.

But the blaster coil will help a little with fuel economy and the walbro unit will replace the old worn out pump

I had a sneaky suspension that the sentra’s fuel pump was on the way out, the pump made more noise priming the car on start-up then the walbro in the SX.
So I pulled my old JECS A42-646017 fuel pump from the SX and installed it this afternoon…

Well the car is a lot quieter , You can hear the pump priming and seems to have a little more pep

i have joined you with a GA16DE sabre 160GXI. I see what you mean about the power dropping off at the higher revs. Still makes for a nice daily drive.

We guys its time for an engine rebuild to refresh the 270-000KM GA16DE and replace the bottom chain and clutch, I am planning to have the funds together by November. I have been in contact with Richi Juta the guys that did all the engineering on the CA18DET’s bottom end to do the same to the GA16DE. I am hoping to build a reliable, High Compression daily driver.

Here is the price list with both parts and engineering (Tell me what you guys think)

Part Price
-------------------------------------------------

Big Ends R 140.00
Main's R 180.00

Complete Chain Kit R 620.00
Water Pump R 180.00
Sacha Clutch Kit R 900.00
Head Bolts R 120.00
ARP Rod Bolts R 500.00
Piston Rings (Total Seal) R 400.00
D16 Pistons (11.1 Compression) R 700.00

Total R 5,610.00

Nice Parts Price
-------------------------

UR Racing Crank Pulley R 2,000.00

Complete Flowed head R 2,530.00
* Skimming Head
* Full Port and Polish
* Polished Combustion Chambers
* Angle valve job
* Port Matched
* New Seats
* New guides
* CC Combustion Chambers

Correct Shim Valves R 400.00
Pocket Honda Pistons for valves R 400.00
Remove Skirts from Pistons R 400.00
Shot Peen Rods R 400.00
Full Dynamic Balance and weight match R 550.00

Sub assembly assembled and returned. R 600

Total R 7,450.00

Grand Total (Excluding Nice Parts) R 13,060.00

Grand Total with Nice parts R 18,560.00

The total cost is high but it is a complete race build driven on the road just like my SX that should withstand anything thrown at it , I’m not interested in swapping in a SR20DE\VE motor as all it will be is a 160SE with a SR20 in, the car will not have the rear disks; Sway-bay, Interior, Trim or kit the 200STI’s come with and you are not sure the condition of the motor also finding a good low mileage 200STI or 200GXI that has not been raced or modified for R40 K is almost is impossible but having said that I do have two cars lined up that I need to look at first before I start the rebuild
