Draco... Don't want too much lag seeing as it's my daily driver so I guess the size is okay...

Veecee... In case someone tries to forge the part numbers and takes me and everyone I know hostage, and ultimately takes over the world and puts an end to humankind as we know it

Taking a bigger exhaust housing will give lag....bigger compression housing will give more volume and flowwwwwwwwww......I was asking about the compression housing.....it will work fine.....just better with a bigger compression housing...

Yeah that's true... Never thought of asking them for a bigger compressor housing... Although I think they sell those turbos as is and not to your specs...

Ok....just phoned them...they don't stock a bigger compression housing for that.....although you loose a bit of volume and flow....you do get velociry in exhange.....if your piping is the right size....well....that will be good....very....

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't post the pics the other day... Been very busy...

Got the engine back and have been working on it a bit:

Engine with polished tappet covers, not the best work but good for now :D

Image

The newly sprayed mountings...

Image

The manifold in with copper nuts ( did some sanding of the inside of the manifold cause of all the stuff that was burnt or caked on... the flow should be at least a bit better now :) )

Image

The sprayed pulleys...

Image

Test fitted the turbo using 3 flanges instead of the spacer I bought because there isn't enough space and the compressor housing hits the engine mount...

Image

Getting the oil lines for the turbo tomorrow, so will probably fit the turbo then :D

Chem... One of the injectors was leaking and the caps were cracked on 2 of them so we sent them to City Auto Electricians in Boksburg to get serviced... They put on new rubber seals and reconned them completely for R1070...

Just want to add info, Changing the compressor side A/R has very little effect on the amount of Air Flow capability a turbo has , Its mainly used as a fine tuning measure but has very little effect over all.

The Turbine Side has a lot of effect over-all on response and power of a given Motor/Turbo combination , For a small example , If you sized that turbo with a .64A/R boost would come on sooner but because of back-pressure the power would be down over all when on boost if compared to using a .86A/R

Anyway Great build up cant wait to see more

Thanx Fluffybunny :) You know you're technical advice is always appreciated...

This specific turbo has a larger inducer for the compressor wheel and a larger exducer for the turbine wheel... will this increase the flow?

And the turbine housing is a 0.49 AR and the compressor housing is a 0.42 AR...

nice - i like the polished covers. brings back old memories!

i remember putting like 10 hours of elbow grease into just one of the covers!!! paint removing, dry sanding, wet sanding, again and again and again, then polishing!

well done!
