Detonation doesn’t burn pistons it has a tendency to crack them or the ring lands because of the shock sometimes bend conrods or pit the outer edges of the pistonHe burnt piston 1....the car detonated and burnt the piston
If it burnt the piston the car ran lean the injection system needs to be looked at.
Corky bell says it best “ Water Injection is best used when boost levels over 6 PSI are desired but no intercooler is present. Do not allow a situation to exit where the water injection is used as an excuse for proper air/fuel ratios”

It’s Deting because it’s lean like I saidPink Det will burn a piston if left knocking for long enough the EGT get way to high and a meltdown occur. Also W/m richens the mixture so without it the motor would have been running lean and would have increase burn temps.
Leaning will burn a piston increasing the EGT and then presto Detting the leaning occurred first so the cause is a lean mixture not the Deting
But the injection system still might need to be looked or a lower boost setting possibly selected, Is Air fuel measured on the car? If not we can argue this for weeks and never win. At the end of the day it boils down to possibly if the injection system was sorted and the water\meth was only used as a detonation inhibitor and not an all out timing increaser then the motor might have survived that’s all I am saying.

We are arguing about the same thing but lean killed the motor because if the fueling was correct it would have never happened correct? It was detonating because it was lean. Det was the symptom, but running lean was the cause. They work hand in hand and both killed the motor.
It like say the gun shot me.. NO you shot your self because you where playing with the gun
Cause – Running Lean Effect – Detting

Thanks for info,I have been givin ART,Ferroli and FSR as tuners for my S14 -bit confused because one is saying Turbonetics and other Garrit(turbo)Looking for 200kw on low boost and 250+ with high(1.5)and change fuel ,Do i need to do pistins and rods or not ?What turbo?

Turbonetics are only oil cooled whereas Garrett are water and oil cooled. It's really personal choice at the end of the day as both are very good makes.
If you're looking for 250kw at the fly then you don't need to build the motor but if you want that at the wheels then yes you do.
The Garrett GT3071R gets my vote for an SR. Just as responsive as a GT2871R and more room to grow.

Diesel power, hmm, yes, I think I'll have some of that.

200kw on the fly is minor mods with the SR20DET. FMIC - Decent Intake System - Exhaust 76mm - boost at 0.9bar..... Depending on the condition of your motor and how good the tuner is with his fine tuning! It has a huge affect on these cars.
250kw on the fly - do the above with a bigger turbo and your there no problem - No changing of internals - Perhaps look at a exhaust manifold too then. Standard is very restrictive. My opinion about turbo, I will go with Garret turbo, have heard allot and I mean allot of awefull strories about turbonetics turbo! Heard they do not last a few 1000km even! And they are only a bit cheaper! Water and oil cooled is the way to go!

Injector size: 370 cc/min injectors(35.2 lbs/hour)
Number of injectors: 4
BSFC: 0.65
Duty cycle: 100%
This combination will supply fuel for 216 horsepower
http://z31.com/software/injector.pl
200KW = 268 HP
If you want to maintain a stable Air /fuel ratio at anything above 5000Rpm I would suggest bigger injectors but then again what do i know its your motor anyway.
