Project F had one pic of the starter in pieces.
I was a noob on this yesterday so need detailed "this is the bushes, this is the brushes, this is the core" type info.
But I managed to replace the brushes on my starter yesterday. Still spun FARKEN slowly. So I popped in at the Auto Elect this morning.
He tests it and it spins like it wants to take off. Turns out I was connecting the negative on the wrong spot when I did my "after" test.
So starter is fine now. Just need to refit and charge the battery. (Damn 2 month ES bushes job made my battery flat)

yeah - there is a speed sensor somewhere.
has a wire coming from the rear of the car into the harness near the starter motor.
you could've stuffed that somehow? before you go do anything drastic, check the plugs on the wire, and then check the continuity!
