Two things for CA reliability

Oil Cooler - Helped my out twice now!
Full Engine Balance - Also done great wonders

I've added other things to aid reliability forged pistons (although not needed) decent bearings, decent gaskets, new oil pump, new waterpump then you should be set...

Things that I can't solve at the moment Lifters... can't get them anywhere and they are not sounding nice.

but don't expect performance if reliability is the key
I disagree, I have nearly 200RwKw or so and I have decent reliability. Ok I admit I might rev past 5000rpm once a week if I am lucky, other than that it is my daily drive.

If you abuse your power it will never last, I dont care if you have a R50k CA or SR it will break.

silly thought here???how about the best of both worlds??
how about an RB20 engine????six cylinder....so u'll have the GROWL and some extra GRUNT!......and not as expensive as the RB25...and with teh extra cash...some extra tuning on the engine or even a rebuild(and u can use R31 Skyline parts from our local skylines) is possible, cus the nice thing is Nissan made a good few parts interchangible between models...so its not impossible
like i siad.....just my silly thoughts
cheers

its really not a bad idea.

6 cylinder, small pistons mean it should rev freely!

treat it like an sr and it should give you endless joy!

Been thinking of a RB20DET for a bit 2. I know of a guy trying to get rid of his cheap with a RB20 box - no im not telling who :P

But im totally clueless when it comes to these things, wouldnt know what parts to get and where...theres not exactly a massive RB20Det community around to help out

i say go get it...

with your access to resources, it shouldnt be a problem getting it installed into your car!!!

and if you dig deep enough, you should be able to find info. remember its the engine from the R32 gtst skyline. i'm thinking the OZ guys should have lots of stuff for you to read.

from what i've read, the installation is the same as the RB25, which actually isnt that difficult at all!

plenty site about RB20 avail....just GOOGLE it lol
check NOCO FORUM or R31 skyline club in OZ,they have plenty info and even installation guides with pics.
RB20 with box can be picked up for the price of a SR20 alone,i know....as i have priced, and cus they so "unpopular" they come cheap, and guys are missing a golden oppitunity(to make 350 to 450bhp on near std internals)
good luck mate!

I would rather get the RB25 over the CA rebuild

If you can mount the engine and do most of it yourself you will

be under R25k, including your engine

Speak to Rian , the guy selling his Conversion

I was promessed 200kws ATW with a Stock Rb25 on 0.8 bar boost and pump fuel

A very unstressed engine, in my thoughts

Find a good engine and your soughted

I have settled for the RB26 thought, its collecting dust in the garage at the moment

Rezlo also has quite alot of parts for the Rb25 aswell

Strange because wasnt that motor only 206Kw on the fly from factory, in STOCK form??

more boost (i think), stand alone management, fat ass exaust, whats the problem? 200kw sounds possible to me?

and dont go moaning thats not stock, im sure you know what he meant

Yes with all those mods 200RwKw is possible, but thats no stock.

the thing is that you take a stock motor, and you have to add all that other stuff because you have to fabricate it anyway.

so the motor itself is stock, but the intake, exhaust and management isnt, nor is the intercooler stock - these are things that have to bought be over and above the engine.

and with these things bruno has 200rwkw on his "stock" rb25det.

and like RBSX says - the motor is totally unstressed, yet the car easily does 13 second 1/4's in street trim and drifts like a champion!!!

its a good choice.

but dont frown on the RB20 either - thats a very nice engine!
