Charl before you take a hammer to yours, how much do you want for the head (it is 4 port hey)??

RBSX what do you want for the gearbox?? My Lotus 7 SX is still short a box.

I believe it is the 4port head but i think the head is where my k*k starts. I think the fellow before me had it skimmed to much and now my compression ratio is moertoe.

hey RB... i hate to burst your bubble...

but this is how i see it.

the importers have low mileage engines for less than 6k.
they also have low mileage gearboxes for about 2.5k.

so if you went to an importer, you would get the same stuff for just less than 9 thousand bucks!

what makes your engine worth 15k???

like for instance, my engine has been rebuilt about 30k km's ago. its has forged arias pistons in it. it has a newly rebuilt turbo on it. it has been polished bling bling!!! etc etc etc... so i would want about 10k just for my engine!

Im sure those Low mileage engines come with full service histroy as well
and you can even take it for a test drive, hear it running, and feel the performance !!!!!!!

Please bro.... how can any of those engine importers claim low mileage
what have they got to back that up with
they are stripped and thrown into a container
consider that an Sx is about 20 years old in japan.... low mileage...so sweet....... Please

I said i want offers, close to 15k

Ive seen the condition of Jap engines,, Im in the process of buying an RB26

So if you are confortable buying an engine, you have no guarantee will even start, ........... well done to you, keep some money aside
so you can replace cambelts, turbos, pistons , valves, cracked heads, sparks plugs........and the list goes on.................its a gamble buying those engines,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Im ready to gamble.......

Im offering some peace of mind............

Donny sorry but I cant agree with you here.

There are laws in Japan stating that a car can only be driven for so long, I am not sure of the exact figures, so the motors are all low mileage. Yes you cant test drive nor do you know what condition the motor is in but they ALL come with a start up guarantee, so if there is a bearing knock or it smokes they give you another one, only bitch is the fitting and removal is at your cost.

Sorry but you have very little chance of getting close to R15k for your CA18, people can buy SR20DET red-tops for less than that. Besides there is not a huge demand for these motors, better bet is to strip the motor and sell it for parts, will make more money that way.

I will back you up though your car does pull strong and there is no smoke when you floor it.

What are you looking to pay for a RB26 + box? Is it realy better than a RB25 considering spares and costs.

I'm sorry, but you cant guarantee mileage and condition any more than the importers can, you can guarantee that it wont fail, at least with them you can take it back if there are serious problems... Your price isnt justified, your false "piece of mind" isnt worth R5k either...

Look at it this way, you can get an RB25 with a gearbox for the R15k you want for your CA, I dont think anyone wants to finance your swop...

I'm not saying your engine is a POS, its probably in good nick and will last, but R15k? Good luck with the sale.
