The level meter in the water bottle is not foolproof though. In my case, where a radiator hose blew (sounded like a stone hit the underside of the car), there was still water in the water bottle as I continued to drive. I'd be happier if the sensor could detect:
FFFLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW
of water

The Madman thing does look good but I have most of those gauges in the car except oil pressure and temp.
Johansx where did you mount the board and the sensor?? I like that idea a lot, even more than the Alfa one. Would it be possible for this to just simply turn on the LED in the cluster that is not being used?? I dont need the 3 stage one just a simple system when there is no water the light must come on.

Build this about 3 years ago....

still not mounted. Best place is probably to mount it at the highest point. Me thinks just where the top rubber pipe goes into the radiator. Yes, you can mount a simple LED only if there is no water at all. It comes with 3 LEDS, red, orange and green. Just extend the red 1 to anywhere on the dash. I want a red flashing strobe light and and a cow protter under my seat ...
Biggest problem is to build the level sensor fitting into the main radiator top hose. Spark plug electrodes with the ceramic insolator should work, just don't know if the steam will provide enough dampness to give a false reading.

Why cant you use the Golfs water sensor?? It work in exactly the same way. Where can I find that board thing in the electronics123 website?? I must look into the Golf thing a bit more.

Is the Golf sensor not some float with a switch?
Look for "Liquid Level Controller"

The sensor board on the left needs replacing to fit into the water system.

The Golfs washer bottle use the electrode type.

Where is this electrode located, radiator or bottle? Picture anybody?

Bottle. It would be easy to mount that sensor in the upper radiator hose, make the hose out of stainless.
