Heat seems to be a problem on the CA. I think most of the CA's need TLC especially in the cooling arena.

haha, i thought that running without the thermostat would run the head warmer. because the water wouldnt have time to cool as much when being blocked by the thermostat. but i could be speaking rubbish. a little off the topic, but i put my engine in the other day and have now taken the car out for a drive. everytime i stop at a stop street the car cuts out. im quite sure this has been discussed before but i dont know where. is there anywhere to adjust this sensor/screw/whatever it is.

took the head off, mine was a cracked water port on the hg. Head was also leke warped, took a 0.15 cut off it. Decided 2 do the whole head soma as some valves wer leaking, grinded head and valves and reseat them. Finally got round 2 getting braided lines 4 the tubby but those fcukers at media hydraulics made it wrong and now it dun fit. Those poes's, im pissed! Have 2 make a plan 2morow coz the sx has 2 b running again.
Spent the whole day working on the head so atleast i know its sorted.1day il do a sub assembly and just swap heads 4 a practically rebuilt engine. Took out those butterflies in the intake mani 2 and sealed the holes, the ports with the butterflies sure had a lot of gunk in it, hopefully not gona b a prob now. All new copper nuts, fuel lines, air pipe thingies and water pipes ( except rad. Need those!) skimmed the exh mani 2, jeez was that skew. So all in all not bad work albiet with a couple hicups.
She beta run and good 2moz

Daniel, I know you wish you could have done some things differently in your life. I am willing to give you this opportunity. This now tightening a mani stud differently, or tourquing the head with a beer in one hand. I am even offering my superviosion
Sounds like a job well done!

Ok I'd be little less worried, you took care of the head area so that should be fine.
I'd say double check your compression, that will indicate any assembly problems when you put the head back on, thats for the 3cyl syndrome.
Then check all your cooling bru, airlocks, waterpump, radiator, thermostat, if those things are fine you shouldn't have problems, unless your head is totally buggered in some way, not really sure how... Check the water again for foamage.

The only thing that i havent decently checked is the rad...how do you check that for blockage. But i cant believe its that as i flush and refil the system every 2 months.
compression test, good idea...need to find that spark plug socket
i sorta think i plugged the injectors on wrong as the harness is a little tatty, still it appeared pretty obvious that they where diffrent lenghts so really doubt it.
no foamage, none at all.
On a visual inspection alone, the head appeared fine
fecking thing. I was so excited, worked my poes off for nothing. bad running doesnt bother me tbh that i think can be found as soon as i put effort/time into it. The overheating i cant handle!!! that was supposed to be fixed!
