I remember a choice like that many years ago, It was Get rid of Gun or Wife. I chose to get rid of the gun then got divorced about 14 years after that. Damm I miss that gun.
Keep the car, open a seperate account for your car fund, agree on monthly amount to be put into that account. If you have sufficient funds in the account then you do what you want/need otherwise car stands until you have sufficient funds.

Good luck with it. These cars are fun to drive but a project is as much fun.
