That looks like the crank is too small for the bearings. Did all of them look like that??
PS: a cheap and easy way of checking crank size to bearing size is to use those wax strips and then measure the width it flattens to.

well we took off two from the conrods they both were the same...
those Wax strips, where do you get them?

Spares shop should have them.

i thought they were made of some sort of plastic, because my engineer calls them plastiguage or something like that!!!
but yeah, they put everything together with those strips in place, then disassemble it and measure the thickness of the gauge! thats what i've heard.

thats the stuff... can't find it... spares shops didn't have, they never heard of it

ask your engineer for his suppliers number!

Just a shot in the dark.....if your prassure plate and clutch and stuff aren't well balanced on the fly wheel won't that cause a vibration that will make you crank do this to the bearings.....?

Yip it can

but not sure its the case here, we havn't touched the flywheel/clutch stuff.
Also one can normally feel it when its unbalanced, there is a vibration right through the RPM range, I didn't align my flywheel with the alignment pin on my first engine, took it to a clutch place so they can sort the vibration and replace the worn clutch...
I asked the dude what caused the vibration he told me some idiot didn't align the flywheel to the alignment pin...

so you guys didnt send the engine in for balancing then???
i spoke to toby about this, and its not expensive. maybe if you have everything out again, send it in before its reassembled!!!
i think my balancing and weight matching (blueprinting i think its called) cost in the region of 500 bucks!
they asked me for pistons, rods, crank, flywheel, clutch assembly, crank pulley, etc. and it was a day turnaround!!!
i think if its possible now, you guys should do it!

I don't really think its needed only the pistons is new in the whole assembly, the pistons was balanced.

I would bet that they over machined the crank.

my guess too

The big end thats shiny on the one side is from the journal being taperd.
lemme guess it wasnt Allan Y Brink?
those guys mike every bearing and every journal no no platigauge or guesswork.
Plastigauge is the name of the product and its only a guide of whats happening.
I normally only use it to double check that the bearings are the right size for the journal.

What would you say about the rod ones, the wear pattern there looks weird to me

Hows the oil pressure??
