Ok cool, settled then. If we're all there by 5:30am, then we can leave immediately - no need to wait. We'll wait latest till 6am, then chuck!
I'll post more info on trip preparations here, but for now:
- Don't mod your car pre-trip! It introduces possible reliability issues which is the last thing we need on a convoy trip! Ooops, too late, SnoobY

- Please turn down boost, etc. and prepare your car for RELIABILITY! In particular, sort out oil leaks, water leaks, overheating issues, etc.
- Make sure your tires are good and check your spare!
- Carry some water for radiator and tow rope. You know these SX's
- Carry drinking water and snacks so that we can do a long-ish first stint.
- Get your phone hooked up to MSN so we can do a group IM to keep in touch on the road. Anyone have a walkie talkie set?
- Is the forum interested in a roving blog? We can set something up so that we can blog from the road and during the weekend, if anyone is interested

- Bring binoculars if you got. Can come in handy during the race.
- Please don't bring laser jammers. They will get you arrested. Laser detectors are cool, but we won't be speeding anyways.
Any other tips?

I'll be alone in the car so typing while driving might not be the best idea... Walkie talkie... some sets are really cheap, maybe we should invest, I can try and borrow a set.

You can download software like skype to do the same thing and without service provider charges. I hear Vodacom is R299 for 100 pushes.

Yeah but then you are typing while driving, rather talk and keep your eyes on the road.

Well if you can load FRING, that will be great then we can talk like on skype. Otherwise, we use good 'ol SMS.
More tips:
- Buy yourself a REALLY small foldable chair - those grand stands are VERY uncomfortable and even a blanket is not enough cushioning. And a pillow is too big to carry around. The chair has to be small to fit on the grandstand "bench"
- Bring sun block and caps/hats/umbrella
- If you got ear plugs, bring those. It's VERY loud and your ears go numb after a while. Ear plugs will be on sale tho
- Bring SA flags and any other form of support. You'll get to be on TV if you bring something whacky.

Geez, you can forget about voice chatting during the race, even if you are seated next to each other
