then measure the depth that you have available when your window is down.

compare that to the speaker depth specs on the box before you buy it!

when mine was again the metal, it hit the glass. when it was spacered out correctly, i had to cut the door card!

i should've looked at this link:

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/183809

cos the strange thing is that my template is almost exactly the same.

funny how great minds think alike!!!

here's pics of the plate for the 6.5" round speaker off that site.

LOL - thats the strangest thing!

LOL - thats how observant you are:twisted: they weren't. i cut them lekka, and you can see the speakers sticking through because i haven't made some nice covers yet.

but now i'm thinking that myself and widowmakers should make some CF bits for that!!

would be very nice i reckon!

BUT - two things:

1. the speakers on that pic look like 3 way 6 inch rounds. maybe 6.5". but being 3 way - they will be much shallower speakers. i.e. the magnet wont stick out as far in the back.

my speakers were quite deep, because its a midbass speaker from a set of splits.

2. becozof point 1 i used thicker board. the pic looks like its 12mm mdf or something. mine was 16mm, to stop the magnet hitting the glass. so i had to cut out round holes in the door cards to match the speakers. now i must build something to cover the whole lot!

becoz of becoz!

Ok I fitted some 6.5" 2 way speakers on the weekend and what a piece of piss. It was so simple to do. I used hard board to cut the backing from. I bought Sony speakers they are only 45mm deep and R200  .

IT is quite easy, when I have the lis to do it I will build an angled mould and mount the splits, the lis just doesn't want to come.
