Top mount Manifold S14 Sr20det

Post by Magic »

HI Guys and Gals
New to the forum , Must say I'm blown away by all the friendly info , especially here in SA . :P

I have had a top mount mani made about a year ago , but the poor thing keeps cracking . 3mm steam pipe bends . Fairly strong , but has too many weak points . Have any of you bought one of those stainless pieces found at Japan Auto or Turbo Toys ... Would love to know . thinking of going that route .

I have a mild steel top mount currently. I also want to try one of those manifolds most of them also have a flange for a external wastegate. currently mine does not have a flange for a external.

I have also heard from some of the tuners not to fit stainless steel since it does not dissapate heat which causes problems. also they have said that the pipe runs on these manifolds are often too short and the turbo does not spool properly.

Now hopping on the back of this tread... how true is this and what are the pros and cons of going stainless on the down pipe as well???

Yes I have heard that too. apparently the stainless ones have a tendency to crack on the actual seems . heard of a Hondsa that actually self destructed into pieces .
I am running external waste gate . It keeps cracking where the external wastegate pipe comes out just b4 the Turbo flange . Seems they used two differrent metals as this pipe isn't 3mm steam pipe .

Currently removing this and changing to the 3mm steam pipe setup .

Ps :Where did you get your mani from ?
