Oh cool, thanks guys for explaining that! I knew that a lightened flywheel helped revving, but lost speed on hills, and now I understand why!

I remember playing Gran Turismo, and in the description for lightened flywheels they mentioned this, hehe

when i first rebuilt my ca18det my flywheel alone weighed in at 13kg's. this was without the clutch and pressure plates.

i took it off to the engineers who lightened it for me. BUT they said they couldnt take off more than 3kg's because it is a cast iron flywheel and it is not safe. they specifically said that if more was taken off that it stood a good chance of developing cracks and eventually breaking apart, and ripping through the bellhousing and firewalls and possibly take off your legs!!!

anyway... the flywheel is 13kg's, give or take 200 grams. with the clutch and pressure plates it weighed in at around 18kg's!
