Misfire/Sputter on boost

Post by VoodooMaster »

A buddy of mine seems to be having a problem with his S13 (Standard CA18DET). The problem is that the car is misfiring badly when the boost comes in.
We have cleaned the airflow meter, check the turbo, plugs (BCPR6ES) + coil packs and everything seems fine.

Does anyone know what else we could check before starting to replace parts 1 by 1?

I can't really help you much, but i did have a problem with my sx where it would misfire badly when it got into the higher rev range. The problem turned out to be an injector plug was shaking itself loose at high rpm. It was missing the metal clip that hold the injector plug in place. Its worth checking...

Even if you have checked the plugs, I recommend replacing them. Cheapest thing to replace anyway.

Check your fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. Also get your injectors flow tested if the problem persists.
Diesel power, hmm, yes, I think I'll have some of that.

check the gap between the coil electrode, and the sparkplug electrode.

there is supposed to be a spring, or a carbon bit on a spring, it may not be making proper contact with the spark plug electrode!

sounds like a coil pack or two is on its death bed
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Replace the Fuel filter and spark plugs. If problem persists check fuel pressure.

Other wise try using BCPR7ES.

heheheheheehehehehehe..... or replace the CAS???

Tell me when you dudes need the manual.

But in a way, basically all these dudes tell you to eliminate. They just do it in a very slow manner and the trend of this thread boils down to elimination.
