its the same idea as variable valve timing.

things change to benefit the requirements of the engine at the time!!!

LOL.

the turbos alters its geometry to allow for fast spooling at low revs, and then changes again later to help keep up the boost at high revs.

its the best of both worlds!!! best of a small turbo (quick spoolup) and best of a big turbo (topend power)!!!

but its also more things that could go wrong!!!

jeez... didn't know about this... and its been around since the 90's but for diesels only becoming available for gas now...

So where is a burned down Porsche 911 so we can go zap a turbo.

the VNT 15 and VNT17 off the Polo 1.9 diesels are the same design, but I dont think a diesel turbo would work on a petrol car nicely.
