misfire...

Post by Trance101 »

Hey guys,

My sx has developed a bad misfire. Its seems to be intermittent tho. If I unplug the coils and then plug them back in again sometime it will run fine for a short while after that, but then the misfire returns again...

What do you think the likely culprit is? Plugs? Coils? or what? ... How do you think I should go about diagnosing it?

first do a full service. lots of times you're lucky and you find the problem easily.

then start with those coils.

Had the same problem. Look up my post about it (not too long ago)

I discovered the problem by leaving the coil pack cover off, and the next time it started missing I pulled each coil plug individually to see which one didn't have an effect.

So basically it turned out to be a coil pack. You just need to figure out which one.

Ya I was thinking of doing this but I wasn't sure if it would be good to be unplugging the coils while the engine is running. I guess it can't really do any damage.

I'l try this the next time it happens... the problem is when ever I want to try fix the stoopid thing, it works fine...
