phinx - you are correct then. the s13 ecu doesnt know what boost its running, as it works without a MAP sensor. but the ECU is mapped with both RPM, TPS, and MAF, so it will have fuel and timing settings based on those three criteria!!!

as for using that solenoid for controlling boost levels, i dont think it is at all hillbilly. every single electronic boost controller on the market uses a solenoid to bleed off air in order to control boost, and people are more than willing to spend over R2500-00 to buy these EBC's. finding a way to do it with the perfect power system is actually very clever. i've been pondering over boost control and my unused solenoid for a very long time now.

what would be of concern to me is whether the perfect power system references the MAP levels or not??? as this might not be as accurate as you want it then. thats the theory...

the reality is that when i drove hotstuff's car before the boost control was disconnected, his boost guage told us that boost rose to the desired level and stuck there like glue, whether you were on high boost or low. so i think it works quite fine. and my butt dyno told me that it was working too!!!

What do you mean by your concerned theory, Im not understanding your order?
The XMS has maps for Fuel, Ignition, Oxygen, Compenstation(prime, idle, etc), special(injector trim, etc), boost.
Hope this answers your question, if there is anything else ask and I will check for you

concerned theory? LOL.

what i meant was that with hotstuff's setup, which as far as i know is a piggyback PP system, i'm not sure that it references boost. so the only way it might "know" what boost it is at, is if it makes assumptions based on values such as MAF, RPM, and TPS.

but again, i'm not sure if it does this or not??? we could solve this if someone can confirm if the PP piggyback systems reference boost.
