Upgrading coil packs

Post by Gary57 »

Has anyone swapped their coils on a CA or any Nissan for that matter?

I have just replaced my CA coils with new OEM coils and gapped plugs to 0.6mm and still I have a misfire at 1.2bar. I am thinking of changing to MSD or sorts, any ideas?

You should not have issues on such low boost. How is the coil grounding? Maybe ignitor issue? Or grounding to ignitor? Positive to coils?

Positive to the coils is not an issue, if I supply an external live straight from battery the miss it still there.

Coils are earthed through small wire into head, as stock.

Igniter has earth wire to bolt.

Keep the ideas coming.

Gary way up the costs, I have a set of ignition amplifiers with normal coils on my car and 1.5 bar is not a problem.

have you checked the resistance between all the cables from ignitor to coils?

It is a brand new wiring loom so I doubt that could be causing the problem.

Is it possible to run MSD coils off the stock igniter?

What is the weakest like, the stock igniter or coils?

I am going to fit LS2 coils with a built in igniter. I will need to make a loom to bridge out the igniter, so how much do you want for it? If you have a buggered one that would be better as I am going to break it to salvage the plugs.
