Koenic Springs?

Post by troopiec »

Hi guys, im a bit uneasy with the state of my suspension as it is extremely low and quite uncomfortable on bumpy roads. the springs and shocks still look stock so i have a suspician that the springs were either compressed or cut.

I hear koenic springs are quite good and they're affordable, my friend has a set on his car with shortened shocks and its quite comfy and handles very well.

Has anyone else had koenic springs? and will a 40mm mess with my camber and how low can i go without being impracticle as my camber is very negative at the moment.

Thanks

Koenic Springs?

New KYB shocks with tein lowering springs work very well. No idea about the konis.

Coilovers with right springs are not to bad but not as soft as normal shocks.

Hi Rat, but howmuch would such a setup cost? and how low would you recommend for daily drive street. want something sporty and nice looking but hate how it feels now to hit a pothole. Also budget is pretty low so dont need the best just decent

Best bang for buck is coilovers R8000. Setup with a 6-4kg springs and some time spent adjusting them. I used them daily.

Lowering Springs are about R3900 and shocks anywhere from R5000 depends where and what you get

If anyone knows where you can get shocks for the S13 please say.

KYB Excel-G are the OEM equipment/replacement. They were R700 each for rear and R1000 each for fronts when I was looking a few years ago.

Then you get KYB AGX which are supposed to be adjustable/suitable for lowering srpings. No idea on price since I have coilovers now and don't care.

40mm drop springs will make your car very low, in my opinion impractical for SA roads - but that's my opinion. Also they will go over the available adjustment of the stock suspension arms. They will also mess with your roll centres and cause your car to handle worse.

There is a VERY good reason why Tein call their S.Tech springs "dress-up master"

My personal opinion, if you cannot afford coilovers - have a set of custom springs made.

I have not found koenic springs locally here is SA for s13. You can only get H n R 30mm springs aroung 3k. I have bought budget springs for R1800 of ebay with has a 45mm drop which is good enough for my daily with 17s and 225/45 proflie tyres

Coilovers are very good when they are damper adjustable and you can select the spring rate which BC offers. The V1 series is nice and affordable at R 8,100.00 and has all the adjustability you want, and if you choose not to have the top camber plates they are R 7,400.00 for a full set.

A few guys run BC's (including myself) and they are very good, give me a shout if you want more info or want to order a set.

When going coilovers ensure that you buy something that you can adjust the dampening, otherwise your wasting your money

I have just ordered a set of TEIN basic coilovers through Jerry at Importparts and should get them on Monday. They apparently are adjustable for everything for normal street use, so they should be fine for me. I will use them next weekend and let you know how they are.

These? > http://www.tein.com/products/basic.html

Looks like they have no damper adjust and height is set on spring load.

For street dampner settings are a must....you are gonna need kidney belt if it doesnt have. Will be way too hard for daily, maybe ok for a weekend toy.
