Hi Guys
I need help, i've got a bit of a situation..
The guy working on my 200sx s13 ca18det amongst a few other things just put new hydrolic lifters in my motor as he said my old one were screwed... i went to go collect my car yesterday and its making a horrible tapping noise like tappets..... he says he doesnt know why its making that noise but there's nothing he can do about it.
From what i've been told by a couple of mates it could be a oil routing or preasure prob... Please any advice would be great.
Sounds like he didnt prime them with oil before putting them in (If he even replaced them), how far have you driven? It may resolve itself once the lifters fill with oil.
yes need to get air out of them befor driving too much.
i removed spark plugs and turned motor over with starter to remove remaining air.
But it needs to be assembled with oil befor fitment
She is not the CA that could be
She is the CA that IS

@Enzio.. surely with new lifters you would have to go through that whole process?? Yes/No?
Cause if my machie doesnt sort this out i will have to do it myself and he will not get paid.
New lifters (if they are in fact, new) would obviously not need a rebuild - but would have to be bled.
So, cams out:
- hold lifter upside down in a bucket full of oil and push the lifter in and out until all air is bled out.
- remove from bucket right way up to stop all of the oil running out of the lifter.
- reinstall lifters and cams.
Pretty straight forward, shouldn't take more than 2 hours.
S13 CA18DET, NIStune and...oh wait no that's gone.....
