Possible Coilpack problem?

Post by RynHelturus »

Hey guys! SX was working fine until last Tuesday, started sputtering and stuttering like crazy then just died, got her running abit but was on 3 cylinders only. Sometimes it would idle fine and rev all the way perfectly, but once its moving all hell starts again :/.

Anyways! I found this thread (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=494612) on the SXOC which is kinda whats going on with mine currently, so I took off the coilpacks today (busy moving so I haven't had alot of free time) and removed the rubbers which pop in over the spark plugs.

The last one at the far left, thats cylinder No.4's coilpack. I noticed that the...errr...button type thingy on the bottom of it is stuck in its current position, unlike the others which move around freely and come out by quite abit.

Is this the cause of my problem? Not enough spark going to the spark plug? Thanks guys!

yes mine did it as soon as it heated up.
stuck in or broken?
By memory you get 2 types for ca
the ones you have with the carbon tips
the other type think just have springs that toutch the plugs

She is not the CA that could be
She is the CA that IS

Ah okay :O. Well, it wasn't stuck in, just seems the spring is broken. I fiddled with the carbon tip thing now, and it fell off :(! Guess I need a new set now huh? :/

Edit: Just saw now that the 4th carbon tip (the one that looks like its stuck), is half the length of all the others. Epicly worn? Any way to pop on a new carbon tip? :D

Told you it was more than likely your coilpacks :P
Just replace the one with the short tip for a known working one and test if it sorts the issue out
