Skippy's New Ride - S13 200sx

Post by Skippy »

Hi 200sx Club, I'm still fairly new to the forum. I recently purchased a S13 200sx.

It is truly awesome ride, still getting used to power and rwd ride even in its factory stock form.

Any tips on what to do on the CA18DET motor to keep it healthy, lighter on fuel, etc, will be appreciated.

The car will be my daily ride.

Here are some pictures

Lighter on fuel isn't really a option. 8k/l is good for a sx in my opinion.

She will destroy your bank balance and put your heart in the dumps because you don"t have the balance anymore...but she will still screw your socks off everytime...

Thanks for the welcome everyone. [smilie=200sx_200sx.gif]

Yes she is giving lots of smiles at the moment.

Fixed most of the small issues. Major issue left is that Speedo doesn't work at times, it works then while driving it stops. It doesn't always present this issue. What could it be ? What can be done to solve the issue ?

It's a dry joint on the back of the speedo drive board. You can reflow all of the connections, that sometimes works. Otherwise you need to replace it.

If you look carefully at the solder at the back of the speedo cluster check if there is any solder thats making a small bubble if its really small you will struggle to see it! But if you take it to a proper shop that does electronic engineering etc. they can fix it for you.

thanks for the suggestions, I will try to fix it this week.

Took the car for a power run on Saturday at Zeeline performance. The car was serviced a week before, I wanted to see what the power figures would be. I was expecting the wiki figures of 124kw 228nm, then the car made 151kw 329nm on the dyno.

The car seems factory stock, so I'm not sure whether the dyno is over reading or the previous owner done something lol I like those figures though
