Hi Barry
Need to sort out a stone chip on the IX35.
The paint was knocked out about the size of a 50c.
When can I bring it in?

Re: Greenstone Auto Body-Edenvale.
I visited the shop a week or so ago - looks really clean and neat, was very impressed.
Re: Greenstone Auto Body-Edenvale.
An interesting project we just completed.
and a modified front bumper for a Scoob. Owner had cut the whole intercooler opening way too big ! You could see the brakes through the opening.
We simply did it the correct way..

Dude, if you want sh*t in your life , drive a customers car . Anything can happen and then its dark times.
I did happen to drive this one about 3 km as the front "splitter" needed to be "carbon" stickered.
Believe me when I say I did not go over 40K,s per hour !!
Shining my knob here a bit but this car had been to two of the "official" Nissan GTR shops for painting. The owner got gatvol and asked us to see if we could sort it out. No paint codes are available to non franchised GTR shops so we battled getting the colour codes. Finally a mate at Nissan got me the codes, we tinted and mixed and got the colour spot on.
Rear half was painted as well as some of the front...

Barry
Just a quick question, why is it that 90% of the paint mix shops (here at least) always battle to match the colours 100%, even if you give them a petrol flap or even a whole fender to match! They say its spot on but when you paint its another story..........

Re: Greenstone Auto Body-Edenvale.
One word. colorifics.
You as the mixer of colours need to be aware of what tints go into the base mix and what exactly they do.
Give you an idea. A "cream" white for GM has 250g of extreme white. The next to go in is 38g of BLACK !
Now when this goes in it makes the most awe full mess and you think it will never work.
Next in is 3.8 g of Magenta. BINGO, it all comes together and you have your "cream" white colour.
The trick is to know what black will do and why Magenta brings it all together. Sometimes to get it right you may add red, yellow, blue etc..This is where the mistake is made. NEVER use a colour that is not part of the base formula !
In the case of the GT-r above it was a seven stage formula. We had seven options here to match the paint correctly.
Unfortunately with the modern day formula like for Renault, BMW, Nissan etc. the distance from the gun to panel and also the pressure will affect the outcome. Its all in the "lay" of the paint.
Matching from flaps and panels could be difficult if the guy does not have knowledge of the different variants of the same colour as used from the factory.
The OE factory will mix a ton of paint to paint for arguments sake 1500 cars on the line. When that runs out they mix a new batch. It is not always exactly the same so they will give it a code which is the same but with a different variance of the same colour.
Hope I described it such that it makes sense..

Just finished Nick`s Volvo bonnet. He was wanting something that would contribute to getting the heat out from the engine bay.

Re: Greenstone Auto Body-Edenvale.
Thank you Dman ! He wanted me to do his perfectly good ally bonnet from the car but we got a damaged scrappy one instead. Needed a bit of tlc and then modded it. He wanted mat black, I proposed the gloss black which he also now prefers.
