I use shell helix ultra fully synthetic, been running it about 3 years and never had a problem, motor is brilliantly clean inside, although i service it alot even though I've only put like 8000km on it in 3 years

+1 on the Helix Ultra, but it's become really expensive the last while.

I now run Indy Oil Syntro 5W40. Fully synthetic oil and really cheap! Been using it on my freshly built engine (after break in) and
even my wife's Almera and no complaints so far.

Btw, do some research on the mineral with synthetic mix. You are allowed to mix the two (that's what they do with semi-synthetic oils like
Shell Helix HX7), but try not to mix different oil brands as some of the additives can fight each other and/or cancel each other out...but don't
take my word for it, do some research, its actually very interesting

Hope this helps

Yup hx7 is semi synthetic, i use that is my mom's Almera and would even recommend it for an sx but the ultra a better choice, my friend works for shell so i get slight discount on shell stuff so i havnt tried other brands yet, Castrol edge is also good i hear, Mobil is a bit over priced i think
