CA18DET Budget Rebuild

Post by rat »

I am sure many of you dont know the CA18DE and DET motors are basicly the same. Main difference inside is the High comp pistions with no oil jets.

Did a budget rebuild for a youngest that i help out with his sx. All parts from autozone so thought i would share. I wouldnt recomend for a performance build, stockish should work fine.

Mega gasket kit CA18DE R500 - HG was shit rest was fine.
Payne Head Gasket CA18DE R600 - very close to the oem one
AE Big Ends CA18DE R290
Power Torque Mains CA18DE R450
Hastings Rings CA18DE R290
Head Engeneering R700 - fit new seals and meassure valves and check straightness
Misc R500

Already done water pump, cam belt and tensioners last year.

Total of R3330

Nearly 2000kms after rebuild and still going strong. Not using a drop of oil. Boosting 0.85 bar
