I viewed one on Saturday past. Was fairly neat but had the beginnings of cancer on the left ''A'' pillar and in the recess where the sunroof sits.

I don't need a car with rust.

My previous car had absolutely no rust when I bought it.

Sorry, meant to add that I deduced this since you tap your accelerator pedal to drop rev.

Sounds to me like you have a sticky accelerator cable mechanism. Check the cable release as mine use to ''stick'' near the throttle. I put a rubber spacer behind.
