This is a thread based on getting my s14 consitantly on the track: main focus is on simplle reliability.
Mods I have done with the car:

1. Tein supa drift suspension = love!!!
2. Induction pipe with bmc filter where left head light used to be.
3. Poly suspension bushes
4. Locked diff
5. Cobra racing seat and fake momo wheel
6. 440cc injectors
7. Rb20 MAF
8. Large Intercooler and bov
9. Large capacity radiator
10. Had engine re done (was done badly)
11. Biki rom ecu

What this thread is focussing on:

1. Building an air dam for cooling.
2. Downsizing and repositioning intercooler
3. Replacing viscus fan with 2x electric fans
4. Removal of head and having redone.
5. Water mist system for intercooler and radiator

The viscus fan is solid! Spoke to a few people, and the setup ill be running will easily be as effective.

Bad idea, it's the best for of cooling on these cars, you want reliability, the viscous is reliable.

you should know that a electric fan will never move the cfm that a viscous fan can.. which is why your turbo car was fitted with a viscous to start with.. not because the engineer designing it was lazy or cheap..
i would not, specially if you track the car.. rather replace the bust viscous with a working one..

I dont dis agree, How ever when going sideways, no real frontal air mass, I am following the tradition of mooving the "shroud" to create a clean frontal air dam with a contant pull to provide the airflow. The fans each have thier own shrouds which cover 90% of the overall surface area, thus pulling constant cool air through the radiator. They will operate via a thermostatic switch for road use and i doubt once i get going that they will actually engage, and a constent switch for the track. Its not about hp. Thats what the turbo's and fuel are for. The water mist sys will also kick in on the thermostatic switch so once the temp hits 80 degrees c that will further cool the car. Just a different view, seen it work on a few cars.

The Viscous with the cowling pulls air through the radiator no matter what direction you are going. Electric fans will not match the flow of a viscous.

I'm not basing this on online research, I'm basing this on countless experiences in drifting with viscous and some of the most amazing electric fan systems. The only cars that never overheat/get hot (if there are no underlying problems) are the ones that run the viscous, that's why I still run mine stock.

If you still are adamant on going electric fan then please let me know how that works out for you, I'm yet to see an as effective electric system as the viscous system.

It is of my finding when removing the head that only 9 head bolts were tightened.....

hence my cometic gasket is now forfeit! B&*T%$D engineering firm....

There is a type of seal arround the cylidar that has pegged! it split off, not worth the risk of re fitting... :roll:

Sorry for all the questions, what kind of seal...like selicone or metal...coz I also removed my cometic hg but not sure if I can reuse it. pics?

The cometic only died arround the unfastened area. the other 3 cylidars are 100%, If they all looked like the three I would have no problem at all re-using the gasket!

Will add pics once i have been back past the car.

this is the phailed head gasket. It split on the ridge where the gaket seals around the cylinder.

Slow updates, Having sick pets and a son makes time management unpossible.

completed the intecooler mounting, mounting the fans and the water spray sys. this weekend ill be completing the wiring and air dam. If Im lucky i'll be able to get the head gasket, then I can fit the head. Got lots o pics to take, will post them post weekend.
