.Date: Saturday, July 7, 2012
Location: Brackenfell
6th Fairbridge Mall Brackenfell / Witzenberg Motorklub Gymkhana

Entries are open and the good news is that the Coathangers are threatening to arrive better prepared and ready for action! The new Monster Ford Fiesta 1600 - complete with supercharger looks good on pictures and will be a welcome addition to the regular gymkhana entries. Though Anton claims that the car will see no set-up prior to making it's Western Cape debut it's presence is sure to get the regulars in gear as never before. Cannot let the Stormers dominate on their own?

Coca-Cola will also be back with the customary sound truck and with the recent decision that the placques for each event will be handed over as part of the monthly (first Tuesday of each calender month at 19h30 for 20h00) WBMK meetings at the Blaauwberg Cuca (M.O.T.H.S.) Clubhouse KIllarney (Outside of SABAT or Malmesbury sweep almost next to the CPMCC Rollbar) searching for a prizegiving venue has been eliminated. A informal prizegiving for the benefit of visiting crews and media will be retained and competitors are requested to attend this for their own and sponsors benefit.

Once again a request to all spectators - this is a public venue and as such all public laws pertaining to the use of alcohol in public areas apply and please treat the venue as your personal property by keeping the area litter free. You kind co-operation is much appreciated as it is in the general interest of all parties concerned. Please pay heed to any warnings and requests by officials and competitors - they have your safety at heart.

To date the 2012 WBMK Gymkhana Series have attracted the services of 36 drivers who have also served as navigators in various teams - leaving only 11 navigators active. Thus 47 individuals have scored points to date. Drivers are encouraged to introduce new navigators to the sport as this is where the basics of rallying is taught. More emphasis will be placed on standard cars (on street legal road tyres) to encourage the man in the street to come and test his skills against the ever patient stopwatch - but more essentially against himself.

Please take note that this event stands to attract a capacity entry and with the new four run format being applied it will limit the maximum amount of entries that can be accommodated to 70. Priority will be given to anyone who have entered any of the first three events of the season. Should the maximum be exceeded each entry will be considered individually and notified.

The 3rd Fairbridge Mall Brackenfell Gymkhana attracted no less than 64 entries on 1 February 2009. Izak van Zyl, Hennie Odendaal, Morné Roux, Johann Zulch, Nashrene Schloss, Jacques du Plessis, Anton Smit, Kobus Wilson Jnr, Danye Louw, Günther Appelgryn, Herman Mathee, Jean-Pierre Robberts and Kobus Smit are the 13 names expected to return in 2012. A huge turn around of names in a relatively short period of time.

The 5th Fairbridge Mall Brackenfell Gymkhana attracted 76 entries on 25 June 2011. Brent Laurings, Jacolien Hough, Monica Robberts, Jolanda van Zyl, Selina Botes, Rudolf Marais, Jan van der Vyver and Pietie Erasmus takes the famliar names in 2012 to nineteen.

Fanie du Toit and Kobus Wilson Jnr the June 2011 overall winners in the Mazda Rsutler with Izak van Zyl and Danye Louw second in the Turbo Golf. Jacques du Plessis and Walter van Dyk third in the Conquest (having won the 4th event overall. Always a great challenge on a good surface the 2012 edition should be even better with an exceptional standard of competition present in the series .

No apparently there is a "new rule" where they need to get permission from council and they didn't. This is just what I was hearing from the d1s guys. Pity as we were all ready.
