Disco Potato

Post by harleyzx1400 »

Well, I received my new GT2860RS from TurboDirect today! Going to fit the FMIC in the next week or so, then the new turbo, Diktator and dynotune happen. Hoping to get 160+ kw at the wheels. Fuel pump is in, 63mm exhaust is done, and maybe I can get away with the stock injectors. Dyno will tell me that. Can't wait.

No it won't. Stock injectors cannot give you more than about 140kW on the wheels (even that is at a very high duty cycle).

A quick calc shows you will need 440cc at a minimum, and even then it will be at a high duty cycle.

Hi, Enzio, thanks for that. I do not race or go crazy in my car, but obviously when the "moment" arrives and I need to punish someone, I want to do it quickly and easily without blowing the poor motor up! Where in Cape Town or SA can I get quality injectors? What type do you suggest? Thanks.

You can get them online. I'm not advertising for anybody.

RC, Bosch, etc all make good aftermarket injectors. If you order them as aftermarket replacements, go for larger ones than you require for extra scope for future mods as well as extra reliability. I'd say 500+cc would be good.

Alternatively look at OEM ones which will work.
RB26/GTi-R injectors are 440cc and top feed - thus a direct swop for the stock CA ones. Other makes also use top feed injectors, so just do a search.

Also, just my 2c - but don't go Dictator, go for Nistune if somebody in CT can tune it for you. It costs less and works better.

Ran a disco potato on my SR since 2006 with standard injectors with no detonation, 168KW on 0.6 bar driven everyday. 178kw @ 1 bar (rarely used)

I'm not saying this is the best idea as bigger injectors is always a good idea for proper use, but mine lasted without issues....

Stock injectors will be fine, just run a strong aftermarket fuel pump. Like the ones OPR sells or Walbro....

If you have a decent setup your injectors dont need to work so hard to supply...
