Re: Best oil?
A bit of Necro posting...
I spoke to the guy who rebuilt the CA18DET in my SX (about a year ago the previous owner had it redone). His name is Jakobus / Jacobus from Budler Motorsport / BME.
He recommended I use Valvoline 20W50, or Engen 20W50 (the diesel variations). I've seen Valvoline highly recommended on a few SX threads (overseas mostly).
I didn't have much time to speak to him about what he's done to the motor, but I will eventually want to get as many specs as I can.
I found a Valvoline supplier in Wynberg, so I think I will go with what he has said I must use.
I remember Hennie vd Linde using diesel oil in his Wesbank Modified 300ZX he raced...

Re: Best oil?
That test is a bit useless as one of the best oils are not even tested - Shell Helix Ultra.
Re: Best oil?
ok here 2c on prolong.
When i still was young like old schooldays we owned 3 ford xr6 cortinas 1 of them limited edition.
Then my late Father took a chance and bought the prolong engine and gearbox treatment as a kit and added it to the car.
We ran that engine without any hick ups with a couple off overheating thrown in there as well until the rings was so worn the engine could not start ( no compression.)
Decided to pull the gearbox and engine.
Engine condition was great no damage to it at all.
and here also the gearbox ... draining the gearbox oil and nothing came out.
again Gearbox internals perfect. We had no clue how long we have driven the gearbox without oil but the prolong did the job.
So i would recommend prolong to anyone.

Re: Best oil?
Awsome man sounds good you see im just so unsure in terms of running that prolong in a turbo application and iv heard of a few people running it in NA cars but iv not heard people running it in turbo charged cars besides the drifters.
